After a string of losses, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) finally managed to win their first-ever Women's Premier League (WPL) match, beating UP Warriorz on Wednesday night.

RCB's five-wicket win was mainly due to their bowlers and youngsters Kanika Ahuja and Richa Ghosh. While Ghosh's credentials are well known, Ahuja came off the syllabus for Warriorz as the 20-year-old slammed 46 off 30, in a tricky chase of 136.

Heather Knight and Ghosh played their part with the bat, scoring valuable 24 and 31*, respectively.

Ellyse Perry did damage with the ball and picked up three wickets in the process, helping her side pin down UP to under 135.

Speaking about her match-winning knock, Ahuja said that it was a dream come true moment for her, taking RCB to victory.

The Punjab-player further talked about thriving in pressure conditions, which proved to be her biggest strength against UP as well.

Here's what Ahuja said

"I wanted to win one game for RCB. One dream accomplished today. Since childhood, I've been a big hitter, I always play this way. The cricket journey was a bit tough because there aren't the best academies in Patiala, but now things are getting better.

I have played in such situations while playing for Punjab, I like playing under pressure. The team is very happy now because we have got our first win, long may it continue."

Skipper Smriti Mandhana, too, praised Ahuja for her knock, and called her a 360-degree player.

RCB will be in action on Saturday evening when they meet the Gujarat Giants at Brabourne.
