Why Did Rizwan Cover Sponsor's Logo on his Jersey With Brown Tape?

On Wednesday, in Qualifier 1 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 08, Multan Sultans' captain Mohammad Rizwan hid a sponsor's logo using brown tape in the match against the Shaheen Afridi-led Lahore Qalandars.

Wolf777 News, a media outlet in Pakistan, is surrogating its main business of betting and gambling - it has been sponsoring the Sultans all the season and did it in the last PSL season as well. Skipper Rizwan has been wearing its logo throughout this time; however, the celebrated Pakistan opener has gone against it in the ongoing PSL fixture.

As reported by Cricket Pakistan, the franchise has denied all speculation made against all the claims against their sponsors - Wolf777 News.

"Wolf777 News is a sports website that is trying to compete on a regional level with other sports news websites. Multan Sultans categorically denies the speculation that Wolf777 News has any connection to betting/gambling nor there are links or tabs on its portal to any betting/gambling website.," Multan Sultans said.

"As a responsible entity, we are aware of our obligations and will neither be associated with a partner that promotes betting or gambling nor will support the such venture."

However, Rizwan's actions indicate everything that stands against the claims made by his PSL franchise.

Sponsorship associations between franchises and 'such' companies have been a new thing in today's time. As a result, various franchises such as Multan Sultans & Karachi Kings and Legend League's India Maharajas, Asia Lions and World Giants have been circumventing the betting or casino websites.

Meanwhile, betting isn't legal in countries such as India and Pakistan. Although companies still find a way to promote themselves through surrogate advertising.
