When There is Will, There is Way; RCB Still Alive in WPL

Royal Challengers Bangalore, which was considered one of the top teams coming into in the Women’s Premier League, has begun their campaign with a string of five consecutive losses, causing concern among their fans and supporters.

However, all is not lost for the team, as there is still a glimmer of hope for them to clinch a place in the top three positions. Thanks to the impressive performances of the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals, who have established their dominance in the tournament so far, the third position is still up for grabs.

Despite having lost all five of their matches, the Royal Challengers can still secure a place in the top three if they manage to win their remaining three matches, an uphill task indeed. If the stars align in their favour and if the Mumbai Indians win all their remaining matches, except for the one against the Royal Challengers, and if the Delhi Capitals manage to win only two of their remaining three matches, only 14 points will be up for grabs for the other teams in the tournament.

In such a scenario, if the UP Warriorz lose all their remaining games and if the Gujarat Giants lose all their remaining games except for the one against UP Warriorz, then the Royal Challengers need only six points to claim the coveted third spot without having to worry about the net run rate.

However, if the Warriorz or Giants win another game, it may still come down to the net run rate. The Royal Challengers, despite their lacklustre performance in the tournament so far, have a better net run rate than the Giants.

While the prospect of a turnaround seems bleak, history has shown us that it is not impossible for a team to turn their fortunes around. As the saying goes, ‘it ain't over till the fat lady sings.’ RCB must keep their chins up and keep fighting till the very end to have any chance of salvaging their campaign.
