At the recently concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy, Team India emerged champions! On the fourth Test's penultimate day at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi stadium, Axar Patel broke a significant record despite the limited opportunities he received to bowl. 

He became the fastest Indian bowler to grab 50 Test wickets, in terms of the number of deliveries bowled.

Axar only bowled 86 overs in the BGT over the course of four Test matches, but he claimed 3 wickets overall. Only in the fourth Test did he bowl 47 of his 86 overs.



On the final day, Axar Patel took Travis Head's wicket, breaking the previous mark set by India's premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah. He outperformed Bumrah by 260 balls, taking 2,205 balls to achieve his 50 wickets as opposed to Bumrah's 2,465 balls.

1. Axar Patel - 2,205 balls 

2. Jasprit Bumrah - 2,465 balls 

3. Karsan Ghavri - 2,534 balls 

4. Ravichandran Ashwin - 2,597 balls

Axar not only shined bright with the ball but also his bat he was India's second-highest run-scorer with the bat in the Test series, scoring 264 runs. In the series, he recorded three half-centuries. The all-rounder struck an incredible 84 runs in the opening game in Nagpur, and then added 74 runs in Delhi and 79 runs in Ahmedabad.

After New Zealand and Bangladesh's cut throat face-off yesterday, the Men In Blue reached the WTC finals one again. 

The Final between India and Australia is all set to begin from 7th June at The Oval in London. The match is set to be a nail-biting and grilling clash between the two.
