After an uneventful draw against Australia in the fourth and final Test of the series, India managed to win and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, something that was more newsworthy was 12,524 km away happening in the Christchurch where New Zealand clinched a last-ball thriller against Sri Lanka and thus, helping India to ensure their place in the finals of the World Test Championship (WTC).

The fact that India qualified right around the lunch break, didn't give them much to think currently for the mega finals.

Coming back to the India match, coach Rahul Dravid expressed that his side played extremely well in tough conditions to face an opponent as fierce as Australia. The grit and determination in this series especially by players like skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were exemplary as they fought hard to win this.

"Yeah thanks Ravi. It was really a hard-fought series. Throughout the series, we were put in extreme pressure at times. When we needed someone to put on an impactful performance we found them. Rohit notched up a century in the first Test, Virat Kohli put up a 180 runs knock when needed. Be it Axar, Ashwin Jadeja, and if I miss any names; I think we have put up a good fight overall,"

Moreover, Dravid answered a question asked by commentator Murali Karthik where he was asked about the team's strategy going into the finals to which the veteran quipped that they qualified a few hours and we don't plan for things that have not happened.

"Karthik, we just qualified at Lunchtime today, I didn't count my chickens before they hatched. Obviously, we have the three One Day matches, we will play. It is going to be a challenge. There are logistics. There is the IPL Final and the WTC final as well. It is a big game, the boys are excited and keen on it too. We will think about it and plan forward."

India and Australia will now be facing each other in the three-match ODI series beginning on 17th March.
