Axar Patel Breaks Head's Meditation as Australia Look to Draw Ahmedabad

On an Ahmedabad track that has not shown any sign of turn and drift, even on the final day of the Test match, Australian batters bore the Indian bowlers in the session day on Day 3. Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne came out with a dead bat as the fourth and final Test match is heading towards a draw.

Head shook Labuschagne's hand

After losing Matthew Kuhnemann - the nightwatchman - earlier in the first session, Head got partnered with Labuschagne as Australia almost shut India's hope to produce a result out of the Ahmedabad Test.

Australia piled up the partnership for the second-wicket on a pitch that didn't assist the spinners much. They did survive a couple of close shaves; however, their zeal stood tall against the world-class spinners. Both Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja bowled well in pieces, but nothing went their way.

Head, after batting in shell for almost through the day, completed his first half-century of the tour and then put his foot on the accelerator after notching his fifty.

Axar got Head with dream ball

However, when the southpaw opener was closing to his maiden Test century outside of Australia, the left-arm Axar Patel got one delivery that spun and bounced out from the rough. Head's hope were shattered on 90, and India got a little ray of hope.

Prediction

Unless the Indians somehow pull off a collapse for the ages, this game will be heading towards a draw.

Travis Head 90* (139) , Marnus Labuschagne 56* (174), Steve Smith 0* (13)
