The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have announced the squad for the opening two ODI matches against Ireland. Both Bangladesh and Ireland are set to collide in three ODI and three T20I matches in March.

Senior batter Mahmudullah has been rested from the initial segment of the ODI series, as the 37-year-old found no spot in the 16-player expanded squad.

The Irish cricket team arrived in Bangladesh on March 12. They are scheduled to play a tour game on March 15, which will be followed by three ODIs in Sylhet, three T20Is in Chittagong and a one-off Test match in Mirpur until April 8.

Ahead of the series, the BCB announced a 16-player squad for the opening two ODIs. Mahmudullah and Taijul Islam were among the prominent names rested from the line-up, which also excluded young Shamim Hossain.

Regular ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal will continue to lead the national side, with features senior members like Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mustafizur Rahman among others.

Here is a look at the 16-member Bangladesh squad for first two ODIs against Ireland:

Tamim Iqbal (captain), Litton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Afif Hossain, Yasir Ali, Towhid Hridoy, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam and Zakir Hasan.

The Bangladesh cricket team is currently engaged in a series of white-ball games at home against reigning World Champions England. While the hosts lost the ODI series to mark a rare defeat at home in 50-overs contests, they conquered the T20Is with a game to spare under T20 skipper Shakib.
