India's bowling all-rounder Axar Patel turned out well with the bat in this series against Australia where he is currently the third-highest run-getter with 264 runs under his belt while having an outstanding average of 88.

Patel's brilliance once again was on display in the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy being played at Ahmedabad where he recorded his third half-century of the series, bailing India out of trouble once again.

Virat Kohli's 186 was the biggest news of the day but to state the fact, he was well-supported by Axar at the other end who scored a brilliant 79.

Left-hander after the day ended explained his thought process mentioning that he is gaining information on his batting. The Gujarat-born further remarked that despite playing a crucial role with the bat, he doesn't have any set role and instead, he focuses on scoring as many runs as possible.

"I am feeling good to have contributed with the bat. I've had the confidence to go after ones that I can hit, the talk in the 1st Test is what I'm following and I'm gaining a bit of information about my ability with the bat,

"I had no set role, just wanted to make as many runs as possible, bat along with the ball not doing a lot. One you're set, it's easier to bat, the odd ball is turning and staying low, it's slightly difficult when you're new to the crease, but once you adjust, it's still easy to bat on this wicket."

India, after getting bowled out for 571, assembled a 91-run lead. After which Australia came into bat for the final few overs, scoring three runs without the loss of any wicket. With just one day remaining, it will be interesting to see if India manages to clean the visitors for a low total or not.
