Virat Kohli completed his much-awaited century on Day 4 afternoon, after resuming the penultimate day at 59*. The cricketer increased his scoring rate thereafter, and even raced to 150 just after the tea break.

Kohli’s mammoth innings marked his 28th ton in Test cricket, and his first in the format since November 2019. The former Indian skipper kept going strong after crossing the landmark and has now achieved his magnum opus in Tests against Australia.

Kohli slams Test best against Australia

Nearly six months after his Test debut in June 2011, Kohli slammed his maiden Test hundred against Australia at the Adelaide Oval. The cricketer listed 116 runs to unfurl the innings for his side across that series.

On his next trip to Australia nearly three years later, the batting legend struck four tons across the four Tests. In the third match at the MCG, he piled up 169 runs by defying the likes of Mitchell Johnson and Nathan Lyon. While his 169-run effort remained his best performance against Australia in Tests, he just bettered it by securing his drought-ending Test century in Ahmedabad.

Here is a list of Kohli’s best Test knocks against Australia:

  1. 185* in this match at Ahmedabad

Kohli, batting at 185* at the moment, is nearing his maiden Test double against the same opponents. He already has seven double tons to his name, with his most recent one coming against the South Africans back in October 2019 in Pune.
