After making waves in white ball cricket, Shubman Gill has shown that he is equally adept in Tests. He scored a stellar century on Day 3 of the fourth Test of the ongoing Test series against Australia in Ahmedabad.

Gill, who replaced KL Rahul in the final two matches at the top, played a scintillating inning on the slow turner of Ahmedabad, reaching his century in 194 deliveries with nine fours and a solitary six.

It was his second Test century and first ever on Indian soil. Earlier, he scored his maiden Test century against Bangladesh in Chattogram in December 2022.

During this magnificent knock, the Punjab batter earned plaudits on social media for his brilliant display of patience and class. Here are some of the top reactions from Twitter for you:

KL Rahul's lacklustre performance in the first two Tests at Nagpur and Delhi led to him being relieved of his vice-captaincy and eventually dropped from the squad for the final two Tests at Indore and Ahmedabad.

With Shubman Gill stepping up in the absence of KL Rahul and showcasing his skills at the top of the order, it would be interesting to see how the Karnataka batter bounces back into the team, especially with the WTC final looming in June at Lords.

As far as the match is concerned, India lost Pujara for 42 runs to Todd Murphy, with Virat Kohli joining hands with the centurion Shubman Gill in the middle as India entered the day's final session.
