My Mother Has Passed Away: Simon Doull Responds to a Bullying Babar Azam Fan

Simon Doull recently came into the limelight when he heavily criticised Pakistan's star batter, Babar Azam, for batting on a not batting a considerate strike rate in T20s. Since his censuring comments, the cricketing fraternity has divided into two halves - favouring and being against Doull's comment.

The former Kiwi seamer has been seriously mocked on social media, especially by a widespread cult fan base of the Pakistan and Peshawar Zalmi skipper. One of Babar's fans even crossed the boundary and cursed the cricketer-turned-commentator.

While responding to the social media bullying, Doull expressed his discomfort by putting a post on his Instagram handle. He said commenting on what a cricketer does on the field is his job, but the fan's language is unacceptable.

In the recently concluded PSL match between Peshawar and Quetta, the 53-year-old spoke against Babar, who scored a 65-ball 115 before his team got the beating despite putting 240 runs on the board.

Here is what Doull said then:

"He (Babar Azam) is looking for a hundred, rather than putting the team first. The last little while, that's all that has been happening. Rather than looking for boundaries, still, so much firepower to come. Hundreds are brilliant, stats are great, but it has to be team first."

Regarding Babar's performance in the ongoing edition of the PSL, he is among the leading run-getters; however, his batting needs to translate into his team's success. After losing to Multan on Friday, the Zalmi became the first-ever PSL side to fail to defend 240-plus totals on successive occasions.
