Australia’s emerging all-rounder, Cameron Green, showcased his multifaceted skills by scoring his maiden Test century in the ongoing Test match between India and Australia held in Ahmedabad.

Former Australian pace bowler Shaun Tait, who closely observed Green's performance, drew a parallel between him and the iconic all-rounder Jacques Kallis, indicating the former's potential to follow in the latter's footsteps.

Tait asserted that upon reaching his century, Green's facial expression reflected not only elation but also a palpable sense of relief, possibly signalling the attainment of a defining moment in his nascent career.

"I think when he got to his century, obviously he was happy but there was a bit of relief or maybe that feeling for him that he has sort of arrived and made it type of thing. That's what it looked like on his face," the erstwhile cricketer said on ESPNCricinfo.

Expounding on the young all-rounder's potential, Tait drew a comparison to Kallis, who was renowned for his exceptional all-round performance. He opined that Green's comprehensive capabilities and promising skill set could eventually elevate him up the batting order, as he continues to hone his craft.

"I think people in Australia are kind of banking on him as a genuine all-rounder. I suppose there is a little bit of Jacques Kallis about him. I think through his career he will work his way up the batting order. He bowls at 140 and catches well at slips as well. So I suppose there is a little bit of Kallis about him," concluded Tait.

Meanwhile, the 23-year old's century proved pivotal in securing a formidable score of 480 runs for Australia in their first innings of the Ahmedabad Test match.
