After last years' fee payment debacle, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) came under scrutiny and landed on thin ice once again. As per reports, this year too, the PCB has faultered in making timely payments resulting in delay with the remaining dues.

Amid the surrounding tensions, PCB spokesperson came forward to clear the air and confirmed that all the players participating in the Pakistan Super League have received 70 percent of their fees with only a minor unforeseen delay. The remainder of the fees would be paid within a month after the end of the season.

“The PCB takes a lot of pride in player payments for the PSL and have never delayed or defaulted. This is one of the reasons why overseas cricketers like to feature in the PSL, besides the quality of cricket and hospitality they get,” told the PCB spokesperson to Dawn

Last year, Australian player James Faulkner left PSL and his team, the Quetta Gladiators, in a swerve after claiming that he was not paid his fees on time and the officials lied to him throughout the tournament. The exchange between PCB and Faulkner caught a lot attention and resulted in unprecedented feuds.

PCB has clarified that 30 percent of the payment was made to the players after signing their respective contracts, following which 40 percent was made once they joined their teams. The remaining amount would be paid once the season ends on March 19.

The Pakistan Super League will now see Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans compete against one another on March 10 (Friday) at the Pindi Club Ground, Rawalpindi.
