Punjab Kings pacer Nathan Ellis has re-signed with his Big Bash League franchise Hobart Hurricanes on a three-year deal. As a result, the speedster will represent the Hobart-based side at least until the end of the 2026 season. The deal was agreed upon before the league's embargo period came into effect.

Ellis had a magnificent BBL 2022-23 for the Hurricanes, finishing the season with 18 wickets, which included his maiden BBL hat-trick against the Sydney Thunder.

Interestingly, the bowler claimed a hat-trick on his T20I debut for Australia back in 2021 versus Bangladesh.  His BBL 12 performance saw Ellis being appointed as the team's vice-captain as well.

Other players contracted by the Hurricanes for BBL 13 are Tim David, Paddy Dooley, Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Mitch Owen, Billy Stanlake and Matthew Wade.

Talking about his renewed association with Hobart, Ellis expressed excitement in a club statement.

Here's what Ellis said

"It’s really exciting to have signed on for another three years,” Ellis said. “I’ve always said that I’m really thankful to the Hurricanes for giving me my start, and that I love playing down here so there really wasn’t much consideration about going anywhere else."

Overall, in 51 BBL matches since the BBL 09, the right-arm pacer has claimed 61 wickets and scored 237 runs.

The 28-year-old will be seen playing for Australia in the upcoming ODI series in India starting next week, having come in as a late injury replacement for Jhye Richardson

Ellis will also turn up for the Punjab Kings side in the IPL 2023 edition, apart from playing for Hampshire in T20 Blast and the London Spirit in The Hundred.
