IND vs AUS 4th Test ends in a draw

OneCricket Win Meter ↕️

India ➡️  0% | Australia ➡️ 0% | Draw ➡️ 100%

Ravindra Jadeja and Ravindra Ashwin both are judged as Players of the Series.

Player of the Match: Virat Kohli

Coming into bat late on day 4, Australia sent Matthew Kuhnemann, a nightwatchman along with Travis Head as Usman Khawaja, the regular opener was not fit to play. They survived the small time period before stumps and came out to bat today.

Ravichandran Ashwin removed Kuhnemann early in the first session but then it was a dead rubber with Head and Marnus Labuschagne piling the frustration on the Indian bowlers. Both in total added 139 runs for the 2nd wicket, which saw both batters getting through their respective fifties.

Axar Patel broke this massive partnership by sneaking through the gates of Head, who was out once again in the 90s with few overs left for Tea. Labuschange (63*) and Steven Smith (10*) continued to bat after the tea break for 14.1 overs before the two captains shook hands, agreeing on a draw.

Smith has finally decided to shake hands here and the Test ends as a draw.

Another huge moment as Pujara the wall has the ball in hand.

Interestingly, we have Shubman Gill now bowling from one end for Team India

Rohit asked Smith about shaking hands for a draw but he has denied the request for the time being but it looks another few overs and then the hands will meet.

Australia are 173-2 and it is very easy going for the visitors at this point in time.

Mohammed Siraj on training with Virat Kohli:

Smudge and No Run are out in the middle...

Ashwin Anna has the ball in his hand, India have a tough task of getting 8 wickets in a session to have a slight chance...

Time for the final session of the day

BTW, for those who missed this epic Test match, have a look at the final ball and the emotions

Time for the Tea Break!

Nothing much has happened in this session probably the most boring phase of this Test! It is unlikely that we will have a result in this match.

Australia are 158-2 after 64 overs

Final over of the day and Axar has the ball in his hand!

Let's have a look at the first wicket that fell earlier in the day:

Meanwhile, Axar has completed 50 wickets

Edge but it rattles the pads of KS Bharat! Was a very difficult chance cannot blames KS on this one.

Will the flood gates open? To be honest doesn't look like that!

Length delivery and pitched outside the off stump. It skids and turns sharply into the stumps this time. Slightly aired up and Head looks to drive and gets beaten on the inside edge. It was pitched at the rough and skittles the furniture. Finally, India get a wicket after a long period.

Finally! We have a breakthrough as Axar Patel, the GOAT of Ahmedabad strikes...

It is almost certain that this Test will not have a result!

Head and Labuschagne are laughing on people who though India could have won here

Australia have completed the trail here and have taken the lead

Things are getting a touch boring here as nothing much is happening out in the middle.

Badal: Travis Head gets to a well deserved half-century! He will surely keep this Test saving inning very high in his list of best knocks, somewhere within the top 10 I guess.

Things have started to happen out there in the middle but India still await the second wicket of the day.

Badal: A loud appeal but the umpire is not interested, Ashwin is keen on a review but KS says it is pitching outside leg and the replays have confirmed it. This keeper is a genius.

Let this sink in

New Zealand have scripted a historic win against Sri Lanka and with that India have made it into the Final of the World Test Championship

Meanwhile, we have a huge statement from Virat Kohli on Nitin Menon:

Australia resume with Head and Labuschagne out in the middle...

We resume for the second session of the day with Ashwin Anna...

Time for Lunch!

India haven't managed to get the wickets they would have wanted here in the first session. They could only dismiss the nightwatchman here. Labuschagne & Head have done a great job with the bat in hand and they will hope to continue here post Lunch. On the other hand India will look for wickets to make a match out it here...

Umesh has the red cherry, can he do the damage and get India a much needed breakthrough here...

Final over before Lunch!

Bat Not Involved | Pitching ➡️ In Line | Impact ➡️ In line | Wickets ➡️ Umpire's call

India take the review!

Length ball on the stumps by Ash, it pitches and straightens as the batter gets rattled on the pads. A loud appeal but the umpire is not interested here..

Meanwhile, you can read this masterpiece:

Badal: Umesh to take a fifer! That is all I would want for today...

Change in bowling Umesh Superstar Yadav is here...

50-run stand between Labuschagne & Head

Badal: While the batters have made India's life difficult it will only take one wicket for the flood gates to open, just one wicket and there will be a collapse believe me.

Labuschagne & Head making life difficult for Team India

Australia are 57-1 after 29.4 overs

Things have started to happen here...a lot of ohhss and ahhsss....

Badal: I was too early to speak as once again he was used to change the ends...

Change in bowling after a few overs and Axar returns here...

Badal: I feel for Axar he has been used here to change Anna's end. Just a background for people following this Live Blog, Axar's record at Ahmedabad is second to none but he down in the Indian pecking order.

Time for Drinks in the first session of the final day.

Australia are 33-1 and India are looking for 9 wickets here...

Change in bowling, Jadeja replaces Anna, looks like India are all concerned about using the rough.

Badal: Anna is trying to setup Head here by drawing his towards off spinners wide outside off and then trying to knock him off with a carrom ball on sixth stump.

Badal: This Day 5 pitch is behaving like a rank turner of should I say like a square turner

With nothing much happening for Shami out in the middle, Sir Jadeja to the rescue

Badal: Knew it! Was going down the leg as KS Bharat followed it past the leg stump but the Aussies couldn't risk a review on a nightwatchman.

Length ball goes in with the arm, nightwatchman Khunemann plays for the turn gets hit on the pads. A loud appeal and the umpire raises his finger. He thinks of a review but opts against it.

Ashwin Anna strikes!

Badal: Vamos! We have drawn first blood here...

A reminder to all our viewers Shreyas Iyer won't be available today and he is still a doubt for ODI's as well as IPL.

Shami has the new ball in his hand from the other end!

Badal: I hope you haven't forgotten this knock yet!

Travis Head and Kuhnemann will resume for Team Australia while Ashwin Anna has the new ball in his hand.

Hello and a warm welcome to the live coverage of the final day of this Test series!  A lot is on the line and we are all set for a very important day of Test cricket. Get ready! and yes expect a India win please.

That is it for today! Stumps on Day 4

Australia end the day on 3-0 after 6 overs.

India have done a great job here, Virat Kohli's magnificent ton has India in the driving seat. If they can get 10 wickets tomorrow, they might script a historic win.

Do join us tomorrow for an exciting final day of play.

Short pitch delivery into the body of the batter who almost hands a catch to Pujji at short leg.

Shami into the attack for the last over of Day 4

Final ball of the penultimate over by Ashwin takes the outside edge of the blade and rattles the pads of the keeper. Unlucky Bharat this could have been a huge wicket for Team India.

Just two minutes left in the day and it looks like India will use Shami for the final over of the day.

Badal: India will need a wicket before the play ends today to be on top here, a wicket today will allow them to put pressure on the Aussies and the visitors will have the fear of defeat around when they walk out to bat tomorrow

Badal: Ashwin and Jadeja are rushing through the overs here...

Jadeja from the other end...

Ashwin has the new ball for Team India...

Test cricket is really a funny game as the Australians have sent out number 11 Kuhnemann to open alongside Head.

Shreyas Iyer will not come out to bat and India's innings comes to and end with that which means Australia will walk out to the middle for the last few overs.

He goes for the slog ends up top edging it towards the man at deep mid-wicket who takes it with ease and Kohli walks back after scoring 185.

Kohli's terrific knock comes to an end

VK has been left frustrated as he is has failed to go up and over here...

Lyon has the ball in his hand and has decided to spread the entire field. He is asking Kohli to go for it.

Kohli dabs it towards deep mid-wicket and rushes for a couple of runs here. A direct hit from the deep by Handscomb and Umesh is well short of his crease.

Another one goes down as Umesh departs without facing a ball here...

India lead by 88 runs here...

Ashwin slogs it into the stands, ohh no wait a blunder by the cameraman. He has hit it straight into the hands of the man at deep mid-wicket. Another blow for Team India.

India are 564-6 after 175 overs. They lead by 84 runs

Meanwhile, it is time for drinks in the final session of Day 4.

SRH on King's latest Ton:

Badal: The scoring rate has suffered of late but India still have a chance to put pressure on the Australians.

Ashwin walks out to the middle with no update on Iyer yet...

Starc strikes! Inside edge onto the stumps and Axar will have to take the long walk back here. It was a length ball just outside off, Patel went at it but failed to get the desired connection.

Badal: India already have a lead of 72 runs. If they manage to add another 80 runs, they can declare and ask Australia to face the last few overs.

Badal: Already tired of updating records the Indian batters are breaking today.

Axar is in no mood to stop here another one tonked into the stands....

Smoked into the stands for a biggie

Axar is on the charge, he is taking apart Australian bowlers...

Kohli completed his 150 a few overs back and he is already cruising towards a double Hundred

Meanwhile, Axar Patel gets to his half-century...

Badal: It is no longer a Test match for Virat Kohli, he is in ODI mode. The GOAT is back at his best.

Team India bring

Back to back boundaries by Virat Kohli as he brings up his 150

Change in bowling as Cameron Green as the cherry in his hand

India are 491-5 after 163 overs, they lead by 11 runs with Kohli closing in on 150 while Axar is looking for yet another fifty in the series.

What a fight back this has been from Team India, the are in the lead now:

Virat Kohli has just become the fastest to complete 11,000 runs at home in International Cricket.

Garry has the new ball in his hand here

Kohli and Axar will continue for Team India

We are all set to return to after the tea break...

Time for Tea Break

India are 472-5 after 158 overs, they are just 8 runs behind the Australian total. Their intent in the final session will be important given the fact that they have the control of this fixture in their hands at this point in time.

The moment when Kohli got to his Hundred

Meanwhile another 50 run stand for India...

The ball has lost its shape and the umpire has agreed to the visitors request to change it here.

Time for a change in bowling in comes Travis Head

Usman Khawaja has taken a blow while trying to take a catch, doesn't look good for him.

Meanwhile, Kohli has moved onto 125

Virat Kohli has moved onto 115 runs...

Nathan Lyon is all set to bowl his 50th over of the session, this is the first time he is bowling his 50th over in an innings in India.

Cameron Green has the ball in his hand

We are back for the second session of the day as Kohli and Bharat walk out to the middle here...

Time for Lunch

India are heading into the break on 362-4 after 131 overs. Virat Kohli is closing in on his 28th Test ton while Bharat accompanies him out in the middle. Australia have kept it quite tight and have leaked any easy run.

This Test heading towards a draw but in cricket you never know things can change any time.

Fifty partnership comes up between Kohli and Bharat:

Final over before Lunch on Day 4 and Kuhnemann has the ball in his hand.

Virat Kohli is batting on 85 and it is his highest score since November 2019:

Meanwhile, India bring up 350 for the loss of 4 wickets...

Kohli walks into 80s...

Time for pace from both ends a bit of change in plan from the visitors...

Badal: Will have to give the credit to Smudge, he has been brilliant as a skipper in this Test. He has made sure that India's scoring rate stays below three by preparing player specific fields. He is ensuring that the men in blue do not stand a chance to win this game by any means.

Kohli has scored just 4 runs off the last 41 balls...

Change in bowling for Australia, in comes Kuhnemann

Hopefully nothing as such happens,

Short and wide outside off as Bharat rocks back and cuts it past point for a boundary

Play resumes and Bharat & Kohli have a huge task at their hands here...

Time for Drinks! After the first hour of the day, India have scored 34 runs for the loss of a wicket.

Kohli moves onto 70...

Big Blow for India, Shreyas Iyer complained of lower back issues yesterday. He went for scans, and is now being monitored by the medical team. Looks unlikely to bat until absolutely necessary.

India are 309-4 after 108 overs

The first blood has been drawn of the morning. Jadeja was looking to go up and over for a while and this time he holes it down to Khawaja at mid on. A lollipop catch for Khawaja and Jadeja is a goner. Full and around the off. Jadeja gets the inside part of the bat on it and the ball maroons over to mid on.

Jadeja slogs it into the hands of the man at mid-on, what on earth was on his mind?

A wild slog that lands between the mid-wicket and mid-on, husshhhhh!

Jadeja taking the aggressive approach here...

Virat Kohli's last Test Hundred came on 22 November 2019

It has been over 1200 days since his last Test Ton.

India trail by 180 with 7 wickets in hand...

300 comes up for Team India

Gill on his Hundred last night:

Virat Kohli gets off the mark here on day 4 with a single.

Kohli and Jadeja make their way to the middle for Team India as they resume on 289-3 while Cameron Green has the new ball in his hand.

Get ready for an action packed day along side Badal Pareek.

Hello and a warm welcome to the live coverage of day 4 from the 4th Test between India and Australia. The series is on the line, a spot in the WTC Final is on the line more importantly pride is on the line.

Badal: If India bat for majority of the time tomorrow and get a lead of around 100, they might have a chance to win it on the final day. But, as things stand a Australian win or a draw are the two high probabilities.

Stumps on Day 3

India end the day on 289-3 after 99 overs. A great session for the men in blue as they get over Hundred runs in the session at the loss of just one wicket. They are still 191 runs behind and will hope to make it count tomorrow.

Kohli whips the ball towards long-on for a single and gets off strike here...

Final over of the day | Garry has the ball in his hand...

Badal: Can't understand what Smudge is trying to do by taking the new ball asking Starc to bowl an over and then bringing spinners from both ends...hopefully he is just trying to change the ends for his pacer but that's not the case as Kuhnemann continues from the other end...

Jadeja dances down and tonks it into the stands

Kuhnemann with the new ball from the other end...

Mitch Starc is charging in here with the new cherry in his hand...

Finally, Australia have taken the new ball with 20 minutes left...

Badal: Everyone is awaiting Smudge's decision to take the new ball here...while my colleagues believe they might not, I am adamant to the fact that they will take it.

India are 271-3 after 93-2 overs

What a knock this has been by Virat under pressure...

King Kohli brings up his 50 here...

The new ball has not been taken yet, looks like they will give the spinner another go

Starc is warming up looks like the plan is to take the new ball for the final 8 overs of the day...

Jadeja's foot are firmly on the ground and he survives.

Alex Carey is quick to whip the bails off and the third umpire has been asked to have a look at it.

Badal: While, much hasn't happened of late, India are slowly crawling towards 300 with over 260 on the board. It has been a good day at the office for men in blue and they will hope to enter Day 4 with 7 wickets in hand with 10 overs left in the day.

India are 258-3 after 88 overs | Australia are yet to take the new ball, it has been due for more than 8 overs now...

Good News! He has decided to continue...

Major concern for Team India as Kohli is down with some back issue here...

Meanwhile, another milestone for King Kohli:

😅 With both teams having just one review left a lot of interesting decisions await us...

Badal: India might be on 254-3 but they are still way behind in terms of this game. They need another 150 to get back into the thick of things cause only two quick wickets will allow Australia to get on top here...

Team India are 254-3 after 84.3 overs

India have eased past the 250 mark with 7 wickets left

Jadeja survives and Australia lose another review...

Bat Involved | Not Out it is

Smudge takes the review...

Length ball around off peg, a loud appeal but the umpire denies it.

The running between wicket has stepped up a notch with Jadeja and Kohli in the middle. However, they are taking way too many quick risky single's here...

While, the second new ball is available Australia have decided to wait because Garry did the damage just an over before with an 89 over old ball.

In walks Sir Jadeja...

Length ball pitches outside off and spins back in to strike Gill on the pads right in front of the pads. A big blow for Team India as he walks back to the hut after scoring 128.

Review:

Bat Not Involved | Pitching ➡️ In Line | Impact ➡️ In line | Wickets ➡️ Hitting

Shubman takes the review but it more out of hope rather than the belief that he is safe.

Gill misses the ball and gets rattle on the pads, a loud appeal and the umpire raise the finger.

Change is bowling, Starc has been rested with a couple of overs left for the new ball. In comes Garry, the clear suggestion is that they will take the new ball.

Badal: Nothing much is happening out in the middle but let me just remind you the new ball in just three overs away.

India are 235-2 after 76 overs | Another cracking boundary by Virat Kohli

Shifting out focus back to cricket by reliving Kohli's back to back boundaries:

Meanwhile, let's have some fun:

India are 225-2 after 74 overs.

Back to back boundaries by the KING!

Badal: Australia are feeling the heat of late as the scoring rate has started to go up and India only trail by 275 runs with 8 wickets still left.

India are 205-2 after 69.2 overs.

Gill gets to 111 as Team India bring up the 200

India are closing in on the 200 run mark!

Gill reverse sweeps it for a boundary!

The moment when young Gill brought up his second Test ton

Finally, Kohli is off the mark here...

2:33 PM IST: And we are back with the third session on Day 3. Murphy to bowl to Gill as he kickstart this session...

Time for Tea Break! India are 188-2 after 63 overs. Another great session for the men in blue comes to and end. Pujara's wicket would have given Australia some hope but, India will believe that King Kohli can get along with Gill and take India closer to the Australian total.

A lot ohh's and ahh's out in the middle as Kohli survives three close calls in the same over.

Pujara takes the long walk back and camera's shift onto King Kohli

Bat Not Involved | Pitching ➡️ In Line | Impact ➡️ In line | Wickets ➡️ Hitting

Pujji has decided to take the review here

Length ball on the stumps and Pujara misses it here, a loud appeal and the umpire raises his finger here...

Badal: This boy is a special talent, he does it every time India are in trouble.

Shubman Gill gets to his second Test Hundred

India are 181-1 after 60.3 overs

Another boundary for Gill as he dances down and smokes it past Lyon, he has moved onto 96 here...

Pujara and Gill bring up their 100 run partnership

Meanwhile another milestone by Garry | Lyon now has 1002 maiden overs in his career

Back to back boundaries here by Gill

After 96 balls India finally get a boundary courtesy Gill

Australia's field positioning have been sensational so far in this session, they have had a jam packed leg side for Pujji while they have had two men at short covers for Gill. They might not have managed to get a breakthrough but they have kept the scoring rate well in control here...

Meanwhile, 150 comes up for Team India:

Badal: The scoring rate has dropped significantly in this session and it might have a long term complications on the result of this fixture. A slow over rate will hamper India's chances of winning this match.

Pujara has once again started camping out in the middle:

It has started to spin more on Day 3, have a look at the stats:

Badal: The scoring rate has suffered of late and a risky shot is round the corner. Either we will see one race to the fence or one of the batters walk back to the pavilion.

Meanwhile, have a look at Gill's back foot punch that helped him reach the milestone in the first session:

Garry has the ball in his hand

India will resume on 129-1...

Pujara and Gill walk out to the middle to take charge for Team India

Almost time for the second session of the Day 3...

Time for Lunch! India are 129-1 after 37 overs. It has been a great session for the men in blue, they have only lost one wicket here. Gill and Pujara have managed to stitch a very important partnership and they will look to continue the same in the second session.

Cameron Green searching for Australia's second wicket of the day.

Last over before we head into the Lunch Break!

Pujara dances down the track and drives it past short covers, What a player! What a shot!

Shubman Gill at his best!

Pujara has now scored over 2000 runs against Australia

India brings up 100 in 29 overs for the loss of a wicket. They still trail by 380 runs.

Badal: A great partnership between Gill & Pujji is underway here, a very important one for Team India.

The fans are hopeful that if and when the King walks out, he produces something similar:

Shubman Gill gets to his half-century, every time India is under pressure this young bloke stands up and smokes it to all parts.

Meanwhile, India is also closing on the 100 run mark

Gill is closing in on a half-century!

Meanwhile, Relive the Hitman special!

Time for Drinks! India have done a decent job far, they are 80-1 after 24 overs.

Badal: Nathan Lyon is trying to push Gill to the back foot in order to get him trapped in front of the wickets. But, looks like the youngster has got things in control as of now.

In walks the WALL, Pujara!

A touch short in length outside off as Rohit goes back in his crease and punches it straight into the hands of the man at short covers. The ball grips a touch and that fraction of second makes the difference as Ro gets foxed.

India suffer a big blow as Rohit Sharma has been sent back to hut here...

Australia lose the review

Bat Not Involved | Pitching ➡️ Outside off | Impact ➡️ Outside Off (Over 3m)

Ohh my Lord, it is pad first

Smudge decides to take the review...

Garry bowls it on a length to Gill, follows it up with a loud appeal but the umpire is not interested here.

Mr. Zeeshan describing every Indian right now:

17,000 International Runs for Rohit Sharma! Take a Bow!

50 run partnership for the first wicket between Gill & Rohit

A cover drive off the highest order by Gill to get going here on Day 3.

Garry has the ball in his hand, looks like it won't just be pace. Australia will look to trouble the Indian batters with spin from the start.

All eyes will be on the King, will he finally make it count today.

Mitch Starc has the ball in his hand here...

We are minutes away from the start of Day 3, Australia lead by 444 runs and India are 36-0. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill will resume for the men in blue.

Will prefer to not comment on this but I guess you already know my take:

Ash Anna on Cameron Green:

Badal: Even DK has the same feeling that I do.

Hello and welcome back to the live coverage of the Day  3 of the 4th Test between India and Australia.

This marks the end of the live coverage of today's play between India and Australia. We will be back again tomorrow. Until then, continue scrolling onto OneCricket for more content.

4:55 PM IST | Last ball of the day, Gill defends it out off the front foot. IND end the day on 36/0 after 10 overs. They are trailing behind by 444 runs. That ends the intriguing day of Test cricket! Australia, who were in a strong position when the play resumed early in the morning on day 2, are still on the driving seat in this Test match, thanks to Usman Khawaja and Cam Green's brilliant batting rally and enough contributions from the tail.

Arjun: A single on the penultimate delivery. Sorry, Deba, Rohit won't be completing his feat today.

Third last ball has been bowled. Rohit fends it out.

Shubman hits a huge one over the ropes and into the stands. The ball is lost somewhere in the sight screen and the umpire comes in with a box full of balls. Efforts are being made to retrieve the older ball and the crowd erupts as a fan ducks under the covers and finds the ball!

Arjun: Lyon to bowl the last over of the day. And he has been welcomed with a gigantic maximum over long-on. My colleague, Debashis, is cursing himself here as he has already created a draft for Rohit Sharma's 17K runs.

Now two overs to go.

Just 3 overs remaining in the day. Fortunately for India, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are looking solid and positive despite the visitors having a upper-hand throughout the day.

Spin from both ends now. Kuhnemann has been given the ball now.

In the air but in the gap for four! Rohit isn't shying away from collecting runs at this stage of the game. And as I write this, he was snapped another single. The Indian skipper is now 8 runs away from the feat.

FYI, Rohit Sharma is now 13 runs away from completing 17,000 runs at international cricket.

There we gooo... India's first boundary in the match. Rohit is showing some serious intent early on in the match.

Annndddd the Indian batters have entered the field. Indian fans, hold your breath. This is not going to be an easy ride, but we know its going to be a good fight. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are on the crease and Mitchell Starc has kicked off the session with the ball in hand.

Gargi: Not going to lie, Ashwin is looking stronger than ever in this series. With Ashwin in the squad, India can move mountains. He's been the saviour for the men in blue. With the bat, with the ball and with his 🧠

Arjun: The sixth wicket for Ravi Ashwin and the Australian rally has finally ended at Ahmedabad. Nathan Lyon is the last man to fall; the visitors have put a mammoth total of 480 runs on the board. I'm not sure if their cumulative score in the series has been 480 or not. Jokes aside, India will have a mountain to climb when they come to bat.

Edged and taken! Virat Kohli takes the catch at slip, Ashwin finishes with 6/91!

Arjun: How's that umpire, shouts Ravi Ashwin. And it's given out!! Murphy has been given LBW on 41, he has reviewed it... but it seems OUT to me. Ninth wicket falls on 479, India are just one wicket away from their batting. Also, Ashwin just snapped his 32nd Test five-wicket haul.

When nothing is going, nothing goes for way. Similar is happening with India at the moment. Nathan Lyon, the number 8 batter, is playing his shots against Shami's pace, with the pacer bowling with a brand new ball.

Arjun: I guess, no. India might be lagging behind in this Test match, but the game has been a great advertiser for the sport. I mean, yes, there is less assistance for the bowlers... but you win some, you loss some. Having said that, Indians need to bat well in this match. We can still have a result from here.

Salt on wounds for India. 50-run stand between Lyon and Murphy for the ninth wicket.

Gargi: Arjun, I hate to say this but should India have gone with a more spinning track?

A 50-run partnership for Lyon and Murphy. No signs of weakness from the duo.

Gargi: Two spinners on the crease, Murphy and Lyon going strong. No signs of wickets as of yet, all we're seeing are boundaries and a few close calls.

Todd Murphy walks onto the crease. India has been considerably successful today, but India's fate still hangs in the balance. Khawaja's wicket will be a relief but the men in blue have to keep fighting.

Usman Khawaja is sent back to the pavilion! Khawaja's dream innings comes to an end, with 180 runs in his account, Usman walks back to the dressing after a successful review from Pujara (the stand-in captain)

Arjun | 2:15 PM IST: That will the end of the session. Apart from those three wickets, Australia go untouched in this session. However, India have also been tidier with the bowling in this session. For the visitors, Khawaja has held the forte from one end, as he is just 20 runs away from smacking a well-deserved double-ton. What he has done right in this knock is he has gone for his beloved sweeps and played the ball as late as he could have. AUS - 409/7 (146 overs) -- Usman Khawaja - 180* (421), Nathan Lyon 6* (36)

27 overs were bowled in the session, and 62 runs were scored for the loss of 3 wickets in it.

Ufff, gosh. Lyon has been hit at the side of the helmet. Surprisingly, Kohli is having a check on his head as Garry took his helmet off. The Team Doctor follows and does a concussion check. He has paused the game in the next over as well. The doctor is having a check.

Arjun: The Indian fan inside of me is shouting: Australia, please declare. However, they won't and they also shouldn't. They will bat as much as they can.

Gargi: Arjun, should Australia declare the innings? Or will they bat as long as they can to ensure a draw?

ASHWIN GETS STARC'S WICKET! and what a catch from Iyer at short leg! I think changing his end worked very very well for Ashwin. Maybe the wind was better at that end, it helps in getting drift.

Arjun: Btw, Ashwin has got his end changed. I don't know why he has done so, especially after bagging two wickets in a single over from the opposite. My colleague, Arijit, suggests that he might get some extra assistance against two southpaw from this end.

Gargi: To look at the bright side, we have a lot of runs to score and the run machine in our squad. He sure has a chance to complete the milestone.

Arjun: Hey, Gargi, would thinking about this be too farsighted?

Arjun: It's not too unbelievable think that the Australians might be fastening their buckles to get some extra runs.

Gargi: Two successive Australian wickets while trying to hit a sweep. Are the Australians getting some feed back from the dugout to play aggressive cricket?

There we go! Carey walks back to the pavilion as soon as he came out of it. Ravichandran Ashwin gets his 3rd wicket of the Test match! Got a top edge off of Carey's bat as he was trying to slog it.

And Australia's wicket-keeping batter Alex Carey walks onto the field.

Oh and what a brilliant catch from KS Bharat behind the stumps!! Ashwin sends Cameron Green back to the pavilion. What a relief for the Indians fans!

Gargi: What an innings from Cameron Green, it's making me nervous to be honest. Does this turn things around for India? Do you think we can make it to the WTC final Arjun?

Jadeja thuds the ball on Green's pad, India take the review. A desperate one. Bizarre review from India in the end. But one understands, how frustrating this pair has been for the bowlers, and therefore Sharma went for a chance.

Arjun: With each run and every boundary being scored, my heartbeat is fast. The conditions may be flat and batting-friendly, but Indian batters are going through a bad phase, which may go against them in this Test match.

In case you aren't watching the game live, we got you all covered. Here's the highlight of Cam Green's ongoing knock 👇👇

Arjun: A boundary for Cam Green and he completes his maiden hundred with that stroke. Maiden Test century for Cameron Green and what opposition to bring it against. He was off the field for few weeks and comes back bold.

Shami comes in from the other end. He's trying with his hard lengths.

12:10 PM IST | We are back for the second session on Day 2. Ravindra Jadeja has begin the proceedings.

Probuddha | 11:35 AM IST: So that ends a relatively, very rare stagnant session of Test cricket. Nothing much has happened except the fact that Australia has consolidated their position further in the match. A total of 92 runs came from the session of 29 overs without the loss of a single wicket.

Arjun: Khawaja is batting at 150*, while Green is just 5 runs away from his maiden away Test hundred. Indians would need to rejig their plans as nothing has gone their way since Cam Green has come out to the crease.

Shami will bowl the last over before Lunch. He has a tight on-side field but Green still pulls him for a boundary.

150 for Usman Khawaja. Take a bow, sir.

Arjun: Finally, finally. Shami is into the attack and he starts with a bumper. That stayed low and Khawaja got awkward with that one.

Back to back fours and Cameron Green is in his 80s! Btw, they have crossed 150-run mark in their partnership as well.

Arjun: Oh my gosh! A false shot from Khawaja after soooo longggggg, but he survives somehow. He goes fishing an outside off-stump ball but gets an inside edge, but gets lucky as the ball rushes past the stumps and the keeper.

Uh, now Jadeja comes into the talk. Skip Rohit is having a long chat with him.

Arjun: A cracking cover-drive from Green, and he reaches 70. He deserves a hundred here. Meanwhile, I am not understanding India's strategy for this track. Yeah, there is no assistance for bowlers but why aren't they sticking with their best bowlers, i.e. Ashwin and Shami. Rohit Sharma is rotating his bowlers real quick, which is allowing the two Aussie batters to score freely.

Arijit: Time for drinks in the morning session on the second day. The Indian bowlers have looked helpless against this pair of Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green. The pair has added 126 runs so far for the fifth wicket with Khawaja bringing up his 14th Test ton. Green is looking very settled on the crease and has helped himself to his 7th Test half century. India has used all their mainstream bowlers in this first hour of play but has failed to get a breakthrough.

A misfield from the Indian skipper allows them to rotate the strike and with that, Khawaja and Green have completed a 100-run stand between them. India need to get rid of them as soon as possible.

Arjun: Ravi Ashwin has been introduced into the attack, but he's replacing Shami not Axar Patel. I think India should've brought him from the other end.

A stat that no Steve Smith fan would like to miss!!

A sensational half-century for Cameron Green. He was prolific with the bat yesterday and this is his maiden half-century in Indian soil.

Arijit: Ravindra Jadeja will start off for India with the ball in hand.

Australia will wear a black arm band today. A sign of respect and mourning for the late Maria Cummins (Pat Cummins' mother).

The pitch is expected to be less assistive for the bowlers from here on.

Hello and Welcome to the live blog coverage for the second day of the Test.

Stumps on Day 1 of 4th Test LIVE 🔴 between IND vs AUS | Live Blog

That is it from Day 1 of the 4th Test between India and Australia. Do join us tomorrow for the live coverage of Day 2 of this Test. Badal Pareek signing off on behalf of Team OneCricket.

With that Day 1 comes to and end! Khawaja's ton guides Australia to 255-4. The day belongs to Australia as Team India fought hard but couldn't make it count.

Khawaja brings up a hard fough Hundred here...What a knock! What a player! More importantly the way that he has revived himself over the past year is commendable.

Second Hundred of the series and yet again its a opener. This time from the Australian camp.

Change in bowling for India, Jadeja takes the new ball as India search for an important breakthrough here...

Badal: I am loving this intent from the visitors against the new ball, they are looking to score of every possible opportunity that is the right approach at this stage.

Shami and Umesh will now look to pick a couple of wickets here...

India have decided to take the new ball here

Khawaja is closing on the three figure mark...

Australia bring up 200 for the loss of 4 wickets

Badal: This Test match has been nicely poised. Whoever dominates the final hour of the day will win the day according to me.

The first hour of the final session belongs to Team India

That's how you send the stumps for a walk! You beauty Shami

The plan works for India, Shami goes a touch up this time and it moves after pitching to knock Handscomb's off peg. The stump goes for a ride, Shami is some bowler and we have just seen some smart execution by India's pace leader.

That's how you bowl a bouncer, almost knocked out Khawaja with a bouncer angling in towards the helmet.

Badal: Ro has heard the screams of Debashish and in comes Shami

Debashish: If the plan is to go short, kindly do that with Shami because he is better bowler in terms of bowling bouncers.

Badal: While they do have a plan of bouncing Handscomb out here, things are not really working. India are leaking runs and it might just help Handscomb settle in.

Jadeja's record against Smudge is fantastic:

Meanwhile, have a look at the Smudge dismissal:

Debashish: Umesh is going short here, be wary of the one that is pitched up and reverses.

Just a soft reminder that the #IPL is round the corner

Debashish: Yes, it is great opportunity to bring Shami in here. Handscomb is a touch vulnerable against seam and it a big opportunity for the men in blue to get on top.

Badal: So, Debashish should it be seam from both ends?

Badal: India have the much needed breakthrough here and they should push for another wicket asap. The pressure needs to be kept up and our expert Debashish has identified the fact that it has started to reverse which is a good news for India.

Jadeja gets rid of Steve Smith and what a streaky way to get dismissed. Smith would be utterly disappointed with it and walks back in despair. Length delivery from around the wicket- deviates a little from the usual trajectory and rocks on the inside edge this time. The ball ricochets back to the pad and the poles are shaken. This is a big wicket and Jadeja strikes against the right-hander post lunch.

Jadeja strikes & sends back Smudge here...

Finally! We have a breakthrough...

Jadeja from the other end...

Badal: I hope India strikes early in this session to make things interesting here...

Umesh will start the proceedings for Team India while Smudge and Khawaja will take charge for Australia...

We are back with the final session of the day...

Time for the Tea Break

Australia have done a wonderful job here in the second session of Day 1 of the 4th Test. They haven't lost a single wicket in this session. The visitors have pilled up 149 runs for the loss of 2 wickets over the two sessions.

Meanwhile, India haven't done anything wrong yet. The pitch hasn't helped much but they have still stuck to their line and length here...

Shreyas Iyer trying to be the god of spin here, he is bowling leg spin once and the next bowl he is an off spinner. But, let's be honest he is not going to bother the Aussies who are seeing it like a football at the moment.

Seems like we have a surprise for you before we head into the Tea break, Shreyas Iyer has the ball in his hand.

Badal: Last over before Tea here, it has been a really boring session in all senses.

Nothing much is happening out in the middle. Australia are finding it way too easy at the moment.

Axar takes charge from the other end.

Badal: India are desperate for a breakthrough here, things have been way too easy for Australia for the past half-hour.

Sir Jadeja back in the attack

Khawaja gets to his half-century! What a knock it has been from the Aussie opener.

Lala returns ! Can Shami strike & send Smudge back in the hut?

Badal: Yes, Debashish I agree with you. They have been a touch too cautious and it can backfire. They have a chance to bat India out of this Test and if they fail to do so, they will have to blame themselves.

Steve Smith takes a single and it's 100 up for Australia! While Khawaja has played 130 balls, Smith has faced 56 deliveries. So, they should capitalise on the start and score some quick runs now.

Debashish: I don't understand this extra-cautious approach from the Aussies. They should focus on scoring some runs before the wicket starts playing its devious tricks. They are defending every single delivery.

Australia closing in on Hundred, Smith and Khawaja forming a great partnership

BIG NEWS coming in from Chennai | THALA to open new stand at Chepauk

Badal: Nothing is happening out in the middle, it is looks like a flat deck for now but with India and Australia involved anything can happen in a matter of minutes.

Umesh Yadav takes charge from the other end..

Sir Jadeja will resume for Team India

BTW, the IPL is round the corner guys:

Smudge and Khawaja resume for Team Australia in the second session of Day 1. India will look to get rid of this duo if they want to get on top whereas the visitors will look to bat out the session without any dismissal.

Time for action to resume on Day 1

Time for Lunch

Relive the second wicket of the day:

Australia who had won the toss and decided to bat first have done a wonderful job here. They are 75-2 after 29 overs. They have a great base here and would love to make it count here.

Meanwhile, India will feel they are lucky to have two of Australian batters back in the hut and with spin likely to play a bigger part in the remaining two sessions, they will hope to get on top before the day ends.

DG: In short, you mean they are going to make life difficult for India here. And, yes, I agree to with you.

Badal: Mr.DG, I don't think a wicket will make any difference. It is a relatively flat deck and I expect Australia to pile up something over 350 and if Smith stays for more than two session then Australia will post something over 400.

DG: Australia will be relatively happy with how they have gone about their business. However, one more wicket and they'll start to worry.

Relive the first Indian wicket of the day:

Australia are 72-2 after 22.2 overs

Chops it on here! Length ball outside off, Marnus tries to punch it off the back foot here. The ball takes an inside edge and goes on to rattle the stumps. Shami gets his man.

Lala strikers and Marnus 'No Run' Labuschagne is back in the hut

Twitter has irrupted today with Narendra Modi visiting the stadium, the best things I found today on twitter and would love to share it with you:

For those who didn't realise it was Kohli who was leading India while Rohit Sharma was off the field.

Australia 61-1 after 15.3 overs

Tossed up on a length as the batter dances down and tries to go up and over mid-on. He fails to get under the ball and hits it straight to the man at mid-on. Jadeja takes it with ease.

Anna strikes, Jadeja takes it and Head takes the long walk back here.

Shifting our focus back to IND vs AUS

Sir Jadeja is here, can he break the deadlock?

Meanwhile, a big news coming in from cricket Brazil they will be present in India for the WPL Final:

Australia are off to a flying start, they are 56-0 after 14 overs

Khawaja tucks it straight to the man at short leg and goes off for a single, he realises that the ball is in the hands to Iyer and tries to return to his crease. Iyer fails to hit the stumps despite his heroics in the field. India were very close to getting the first wicket.

Meanwhile, Modi is back in the hut, I meant he has left the stadium after watching the first 30 minutes...

Ashwin Anna into the attack here, can he help India taste first blood?

Mr.Zeeshan Naiyer the harshest critic of Indian cricket is back with a meme because of KS Bharat's drop chance:

Steve Smith defends Peter Handscomb:

Looks like both the Prime Ministers are leaving the ground for the time being.

A touch short of length just outside off, invites Head into it gets the nick to the keeper who spills an easy catch and Travis Head lives for another day.

KS Bharat drops a sitter, disappointing to see such a quality keeper drops such an easy catch.

Australia have had a decent start here, they are 23-0 after 5.3 overs

Meanwhile, Mr.Rohit Sharma hasn't been quick off the blocks so far and has misfielded a few.

Badal: Aye ye Holi, Uff ye Holi....even the Australian team was having fun yesterday...

A look back at the historic coin toss that took place today:

Badal: Good Morning guys, the good news is that this doesn't look like a rank turner and on top of that the bad news is that India will have another tough day in office according to me.

The PM of two nations have seen themselves on the big screen.

Umesh Yadav shares the new ball.

A few events in the first over; wides, leg byes, byes and a streaky four.

Travis Head and Usman Khawaja are the openers for the visitors and it's as usual Shami with the new ball for India.

AAAAAND the wait is over! Players have made their way out. We are all set for a cracking contest. So sit back and enjoy.....

The Indian and Australian Prime Ministers get formal introduction to the Indian and Australian teams respectively by the respective captains. The PMs will join the teams for the national anthems.

Sit back and relax everyone! Live action to start in exactly 13 minutes. Can India restrict Australia to a below par total?

DG: During the pitch report, Murali Kartik stated that the surface is likely to assist the seamers in the early go. But judging by how teams have lined up, I highly doubt that...

India playing XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Srikar Bharat (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Akshar Patel, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami

Australia playing XI: Alex Carey (wk), Marnus Labuschagne, Cameron Green, Steve Smith (c), Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Todd Murphy, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Kuhnemann

It's toss time....

Australia have won the toss and Steve Smith has elected to bat first. They are unchanged from the previous game.

One change for India. Shami comes in, Siraj goes out.

The Prime Ministers of both the country- Shri Narendra Modi and Mr. Anthony Albanese are present on the ground. Both honourable men are being felicitated at the largest venue of India.

We are just 4 minutes away from the toss. Win the toss and..... I reckon bat first.

Amidst criticism, former Australian captain, Ricky Ponting has backed Virat Kohli to come good sooner rather than later.

Pitch Report: Expect the trend to continue and we'll surely get a turning track. A few days ago images surfaced online that Ahmedabad has prepared a green top, but don't fool your eyes. If History is to go by, the ball will turn from day one itself.

The batting woes continues to haunt India

The likes of Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and even Cheteshwar Pujara have underperformed. Can the Indian batters come to life in Ahmedabad?

Australia scripted a special win in Indore after being 2-0 down in the series. Producing rank-turners back-fired on India, and they'll be etching for revenge as the match starts in 45 minutes time.

Hello and welcome to the coverage of the fourth and the final Test between India and Australia, from the biggest cricket stadium in the world - Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

This is Anurag Dasgupta, and I'll shortly be joined by Badal Pareek, and others as we bring you the coverage for the entire day.
