On new year's eve, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant survived a life-threatening car accident while travelling to his home in Dehradun. Pant, who sustained multiple injuries due to the unfortunate accident, is rehabilitating after successfully undergoing plastic surgery in New Delhi.

As he will take a considerable period to regain full fitness, the swashbuckling southpaw will miss plenty of action, including the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals CEO Mr Dhiraj Malhotra has explained how big a miss Pant will be for the team in the IPL 2023.

Speaking to the Times of India, Mr Malhotra stated that being an able batter and leader, Pant could've certainly played a vital role for the franchise.

However, he also realised that unfortunate incidents like an accident could happen to any cricketer, wishing the batter a quick recovery.

Here's what the CEO stated

"100 per cent. Not only was he a captain, but he was also our really strong No. 4, No. 5, wicket-keeper batter, who controls the game from behind the stumps. There was no bowler who could stop him. We will miss him for sure."

"But this is sport. Injuries can happen to anybody. The accident he had was horrible, but we are just really glad that he came out of it strong. We are really grateful that he is on his way to recovery and hopefully should be back fitter and stronger."

As of now, it's unclear when Pant will make his comeback to international cricket. Considering the gravity of his injuries, it's speculated that he might miss the ODI World Cup scheduled in October-November this year.
