Alyssa Healy Rues Lack Of Team Effort Following UP's Loss To Delhi Capitals

On Tuesday, Meg Lanning-led Delhi Capitals edged past UP Warriorz by 42 runs in a high-scoring game at the DY Patil Stadium. Following the crushing defeat, Warriorz skipper Alyssa Healy lamented the lack of support provided to Tahlia McGrath with the bat.

The Australian stumper expressed her disappointment with the team's lacklustre fielding, citing the team's inability to contain the opposition's scoring rate, which resulted in a few too many runs given away.

Furthermore, she opined that the team could have benefited from the inclusion of Australia all-rounder Grace Harris, who had been instrumental in guiding the team to a 3-wicket win against the Gujarat Giants in their first match of the Women's T20 Challenge.

The attacking opener emphasized the need for the team to support McGrath with the bat, acknowledging her brilliant performance and the team's failure to capitalize on her efforts.

"That is T20 cricket. We went for 65 runs in the last 5 overs and lost 3 wickets in the powerplay. It was going to go one of two ways, we would have killed for Grace there at the end but Ismail did well. TM (Tahlia McGrath) was alone with the bat and we needed to give her support."

The UP Warriorz captain acknowledged that the team had to come out firing but admitted that she was guilty of playing a loose shot against her Australia teammate, Jess Jonassen, resulting in her dismissal.

After the disappointing loss against Delhi Capitals, the UP Warriorz will regroup and prepare for their upcoming match against Smriti Mandhana's Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 10.

In a tournament as competitive as the Women's T20 Challenge, Healy highlighted the need for the team to focus on the details and address the small issues to achieve success.
