Last evening, Delhi Capitals notched up their second successive win in the ongoing Women's Premier League (WPL) 2023, beating UP Warriorz by 42 runs. Skipper Meg Lanning led from the front, registering her second consecutive fifty of the tournament and setting the stage for Jess Jonnasen and Jemimah Rodrigues, who propelled the Capitals to 211 -4.

In response, the UP Warriorz fell flat, managing 169 runs in their allotted 20 overs despite a breathtaking knock from Tahlia McGrath.

Speaking of Lanning, the stylish right-handed batter became the leading run-getter in the competition, overtaking Mumbai Indians' Hayley Matthews (124). Earlier, the 30-year-old scored a fabulous 72 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their opening encounter.

As quoted by India Today, the legendary Australian admitted to enjoying batting in Indian conditions, expecting high-scoring thrillers to popularise Women's cricket.

Here's what Lanning said

"Nice start to the tournament. Our batting has been great. I've thoroughly enjoyed batting here in India. So far so good.

It's not surprising (200+ scores). Great advert for the game. Hope it continues. It's been very enjoyable so far. Everyone's very friendly. Great set-up here at Delhi Capitals."

After securing two convincing victories, Delhi Capitals will take on the table-toppers Mumbai Indians on Thursday.
