BCCI Likely To Challenge ICC's Verdict On Indore Pitch

The ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023 has been in the news for its pitches more than the quality of cricket. The third Test in Indore witnessed a rank-turner, where Australian spinners bamboozled Indian batters and won the encounter in under three days. As expected, the International Cricket Council (ICC), as per the suggestion given to them by Match Referee Chris Broad, decided to award the Indore track a 'poor' rating after the Test concluded.
The Holkar Stadium was also handed three demerit points. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently contemplating the idea of challenging Broad's report and making their plea to the ICC. As per ICC regulations, the BCCI has 14 days to file an appeal.
Speaking to Indian Express, a BCCI official said they are pondering the idea.

In a statement, match referee Broad stated that the track was very dry and did not provide a balance between bat and ball, offering assistance to the spinners from the get-go.
The ICC has lately been quite strict regarding pitch conditions, as they had earlier stamped the Rawalpindi track, which hosted the first Test between Pakistan and England as 'below average'.
However, the Pakistan Cricket Board challenged the decision, after which the rating was overturned.
