MI-W vs RCB-W Live 🔴 | WPL 2023

That's it from the coverage of this fixture, do join us tomorrow on the Live-Blog for the next WPL fixture. Badal Pareek signing off on behalf of team OneCricket. Adios, good night, see you in the next match.

MI win by 9 wickets | RCB's second defeat of the season

A comprehensive victory for Mumbai Indians Women and it's not the first time that they ended up with sheer dominance. A century-run stand between Hayley Matthews and Nat Sciver-Brunt eased Mumbai Indians Women to reach the target with a plethora of overs in hand. Hayley Matthews was awarded player of the match for her all-round show.

Sciver scores two back to back boundaries to help MI seal their second win of the WPL

Just 6 runs left in the bank for RCB to defend here

Hundred run partnership comes up between Hayley and Sciver! What a knock by the two

Badal: The Standard of fielding has been so poor here, can't really understand how they are letting it go past them without even getting a hand on it.

Sciver tonks one into the stands, they are just 20 runs away from the win.

A nutmeg on Renuka Singh as the ball goes between her legs for a boundary here. Not a great show in the field.

Badal: I can no longer keep a track of the number of boundaries they have scored in the last few overs.

Hayley Matthews is toying with the bowlers here

100 comes up for MI in their 11th over. They are running away with this match, it has been some striking from the girls in blue.

MI fans right now:

Half-century for Hayley Matthews

Matthews is going after the bowlers here, she is approaching her half-century!

Their is a request for the Cameraman here:

The Purple Cap holder Ladies and Gentleman:

Meanwhile, Thala is gearing up for IPL by playing Football, looks like he has taken the Manchester United defeat to heart:

RCB inning summed up with a Tweet:

Ashwin Anna praising the talent at display in the #WPL

Ellyse Perry into the attack as RCB search for a wicket here...

After the end of the powerplay, MI are 54-1, it has been a great start for the team in Blue. They are well course to ease past this chase. But, RCB will believe that they can make life difficult with a couple of wickets.

After the end of 5 overs, MI-W are 45-1 (Target: 156)

Appeeeaallll!!! and GIVEN! Yastika steps down and misses the flick and she is trapped in front of the wickets. She refuses to review and RCB finally get the first break-through.

A six and now a boundary, this is puncturing the spirits of the RCB women as MI close in on a 50 run opening stand!!

Siiixxxxx!! Dropped short from Preeti and hammered over the square leg boundary off the back-foot for a maximum from the West Indian!!

Another boundary from Yastika. She has raced to 23 off 17 balls.

Badal: With that kind of fielding efforts (missed a regulation stop to concede 2), I don't think so. They have to show some fighting spirit here. The intensity seems lacking in the RCB camp. MI Fans Right now be like: ⏬

Shakir: What do you think, Badal? Can RCB defend this one with what you have seen in the first 3 overs!?

After the end of 3 overs MI-W are 26-0 (Target: 156)

Yastika is on fire 🔥, she has smashed 3 boundaries in 6 balls. MI are looking to seize it in the power-play itself

Shakir: Mumbai Indians have a strong batting line-up and it will be a tough task to contain them in the power-play.

Fooouuuurrrr!! Yastika innovates and paddles Preeti for a boundary towards fine leg.

Shakir, 9:30 PM: A good first over rom Renuka, she was unlucky to concede the boundary off the outside edge of Hayley's bat.

Mumbai Indians batters are out in the middle and the chase starts with Hayley and Yastika in the middle!

Boss moment Spotted!!  😎

Innings Break: It was a strange innings, RCB will feel that they could/should have batted the 20 overs. But even though they didn't they would like the score that they have notched up. 155 will be challenging if they bowl and field well. Let's wait for the MI women reply! Will be back in a jiffy.

Time for innings break! We will be back in a few minutes

Clipped the bails in a jiffy and Schutt jogs back to the dugout this time. Length and wide outside the off. Leg break from Kerr and the keeper collects and blows the bails. Schutt stepped outside the crease for the cut and is beaten over here. Widish delivery from Kerr and she gets her second scalp. MI does not have to worry about the slow over rate anymore.

Kerr gets another one here and RCB have been bowled out.

9th one down! Cleaned her up!! And this is the advantage of having variety in the bowling attack. Length delivery, pitched around the off. Turns in and Thakur misses on the swot and watches the furniture get shattered. Slower through the air from Kerr and Thakur is beaten all ends up here. First wicket of the evening for Amelia Kerr.

Kerr gets her woman...

Amelia Kerr is back in the attack to bowl the 19th over

RCB are 146-8 after 17 overs.

Ultra Edge ➡️ No Bat Involved | Pitching ➡️ In line  | Impact ➡️ In line | Wickets ➡️ Hitting

The batter has sent it upstairs here

Length ball on the stumps as the batter fails to get bat on ball. It hits her on the inner pad right in front of the stumps. A loud appeal and the umpire raises her finger.

Another one goes down here...

Schutt and Patil are taking the attack to the opposition here...

RCB are going at a great rate here and 170 looks well within their reach

Perry's short stay out in the middle wasn't that bad afterall:

With 5 overs left, RCB are 123-7. Can they get to 170?

RCB are 115-7 after 14 overs.

Time for strategic time out ⏱

RCB are 7 down here

Fuller-length delivery and outside the off. Ghosh sits down on one knee and goes for a slog sweep. Doesn't get the necessary timing and it lands safely in the reverse cup hands of Nat Sciver-Brunt at deep mid-wicket.

The Ellyse Perry run out:

RCB are 110-6 after 13 overs.

Hopefully, this technical error doesn't have a major role in who wins this fixture:

Pooja Vastrakar breaks the partnership here! Fuller-length delivery on the stumps. Slightly off-pace and is an off-cutter. Ahuja goes for an across-the-line hoick and pays the price. She gets a leading edge on the hoick and it lands safely in the gloves of Yastika Bhatia behind the stumps, who runs to her left to catch it.

And, MI resumed the play with a wicket.

After a long wait for a technical issue with the stumps, the play has resumed...

Shakir: Well let's see how it goes, but I think RCB will reach 165+!

Badal: Doing something like MS Dhoni is not a cakewalk. I don't expect her to do any wonders, if she bats the entire quota of overs without getting anyone run-out, I will consider it a great job from here.

The Ellyse Perry run-out where Richa was involved:

Shakir: One thing that RCB have done well is that, they have maintained a healthy scoring rate. This means if they bat the 20 overs..they will have a good total to defend. Can Richa Ghosh replicate a MSD type of innings and guide them there? @Badal

RCB are still managing to score at a decent rate here, they are 92-5 after 11 overs.

Have a look at how things took a turn in favour of MI:

Meanwhile, Smriti be like:

Ellyse Perry takes the long walk back as she is run-out at the strikers end. She cuts it towards cover-point where the fielder dives and stops the ball, it rolls over towards the fielder at backward point. She gets a direct hit as Perry tries to make it back in her crease. She fails to get back in time and RCB are 5 down.

Badal: Richa Ghosh gifts MI the big wicket of Ellyse Perry as she makes no effort of running despite the Australia screaming for a run.

Relive RCB's fall of wickets:

Meanwhile, Ellyse Perry got a great reception as she walked out to bat:

Ultra Edge ➡️ No Bat Involved | Not Out

Harman has sent it upstairs here...

A loud appeal but the umpire is not interested here...

Run-Out check at the strikers end but Perry has made it back in time and she is all set to continue the onslaught

Perry is not looking to slow down here, she greets Amelia Kerr with a biggie

4th one is back in the hut, Can you believe it? Matthews gets rid of Heather Knight. She's on a hattrick now. Loopy stuff around the off. Turns in to beat the inside edge of Knight and the cork kisses the bails between the middle and off. The zing bails lit up and though Yastika blew the wicket, it wasn't needed. RCB on the backfoot now.

This is turning out to be a nightmare for RCB, they have been smashed at the hands of MI here...

Length ball tossed up outside off, as Smriti dances down and tries to go up and over. She ends up slicing it straight to the fielder at point.

Another one goes down and with it RCB's hopes of winning this fixture take a major blow. But, they still have quite a few players who can help their cause.

Ellyse Perry walks out to the middle here and gets off the mark with a boundary.

RCB are 39-2 after 4.5 overs.

Full in length on the stumps, as the batter dances down but fails to get bat on ball. The ball goes onto rattle the stumps.

Badal: Disha Kasat walks out to the middle, I was a bit slow with the update as she is on her way back. Ishaque cleans her up.

Devine bites the dust here as she picks out the fielder at deep mid-wicket and MI have the first breakthrough. A touch full in length on the stumps as she slogs it straight into the hands of the fielder in the deep.

Change is bowling doesn't work for MI as RCB move onto 35-0 after 4 overs

Driven towards extra covers off the front foot, Smriti at her best! You Beauty!

Wong into the attack as MI look for a wicket here...

Ishaque into the attack here and she is greeted with a boundary off the first ball...

Smriti is taking the attack to the bowlers, looks like she will go after any sort of opportunity she gets

Meanwhile, looks like the rain has made its way to the ground, hopefully its just a passing shower and the play doesn't stop

Devine joins the party with  6 and RCB are 11-0 after the first over

Smriti gets going with a boundary 4️⃣

Badal: It will be interesting to see what approach RCB have in the first innings

7:27 PM IST | We are all set for the live-action. The umpires and players are out in the middle. Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine will be the RCB openers. Here we go...

The rain has stayed away so far and we are expecting the match to start on time

RCB skipper Smriti on the #GOAT:

Before we shift our focus on the match, we have a short clip of Jemimah dancing at long-on that is going viral on the net:

The playing of MI is here:

Have a look at the RCB playing XI:

Meanwhile, it is raining in other parts of Mumbai but we hope that it doesn't impact the match.

Harmanpreet Kaur (Mumbai Indians Women captain):

"Yes, definitely. I think Smriti is luckier than me, winning the toss. We wanted to bowl only, so not a big issue for us. Our bowling did really well in the last game and therefore we wanted to bowl. When I got to know about our team, I was really happy. Because in T20, it is very important to have an extra bowler if someone's not having their day. We have the same XI."

Smriti Mandhana (Royal Challengers Bangalore Women Captain):

"We will like to bat first. Looks like a good pitch. We will try to put some runs on the board and put some pressure on them. We have discussed putting a big total. It has been a point of talk in the last few games. One change for us. Asha Shobana is out and Shreyanka Patil is in."

RCB has won the toss and decided to bat first

Harmanpreet Kaur (MI) and Smriti Mandhana (RCB) are out in the middle...

Time for the toss

We are just minutes away from the toss...
