A storm was riled after West Indies' star cricketer Deandra Dottin came against the Women's Premier League (WPL 2023) franchise, Gujarat Giants (GG) - after the franchise named a replacement for an "injured" Dottin.

However, the attacking Barbadian took her Instagram to comment on her fitness saying, "Get well soon from what if may I ask?"

A huge controversy erupted after the cricketer denied the claims made by the Gujarat-based franchise. (Follow Live Blog here)

To Dottin's claims, the Giants have said, "They were unable to obtain a medical clearance before the defined deadline for this season, such clearances are a requirement of all players participating in the WPL."

The 31-year-old all-rounder was one of the many cricketers acquired by the Adani Sportsline-owned team; however, she was replaced a few hours before the tournament kicked off.

The team management - comprising mentor Mithali Raj, head coach Rachael Haynes - is held response for the replacement change.

The Beth Mooney-led side has got a like-to-like replacement in Kim Garth, who started her career with Ireland before shifting her base to Australia.

However, the team's worries aren't just limited off the field. During the 143-run hammering from Mumbai Indians, they got their captain Mooney retired hurt without even putting a run on the board.

There are no updates on the southpaw's injury, but she is unlikely to return for the clash against UP Warriorz, which will be played at the DY Patil Sports Academy on Sunday.

Sneh Rana is likely to lead the Giants in Sunday's fixture against the UP team.
