The greatest battle taking place on Twitter at the moment is between two former cricketers. Venkatesh Prasad and Aakash Chopra have hogged the limelight over the last few days, and the hot-topic for their heated debate has been KL Rahul.

KL Rahul has been a subject of scrutiny for his poor form across formats. On one hand, netizens want him out of the squad, and a certain section of people still have faith in him.

Venkatesh Prasad was against the idea of KL Rahul getting more chances in the Indian team. He believed that KL Rahul has been given enough chances and someone like Shubman Gill should be given a chance to cement his place.

On the contrary, Aakash Chopra had sympathized with the cricketer. As a result of this opposing views, both the ex-cricketers had a war of words on Twitter which escalated quickly.

That debate never really materialised, but now the social media has gone frenzy, hearing the news that both Venkatesh Prasad and Aakash Chopra will be a part of the commentary panel for the inaugural edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL).

Here's how Twitter reacted

After a lot of flack, the Indian team decided to drop KL Rahul from the third Test in Indore, which India lost by 9-wickets. Shubman Gill replaced him in the playing XI, and even he failed to produce runs in the two innings.

Talking about the WPL, the opening game takes place between Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians on Saturday. There are a total of five franchises, with 20 league matches and two play-off games that will be played in the span of 23 days.

Each team will face the other team twice before the top-four teams march on towards the semi-finals.
