Islamabad United secured their fourth win of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season on Friday with a clinical batting display against the Karachi Kings.

Karachi Kings capitalised on their decision to bat first, thanks to a blazing innings of 92 runs off 54 balls by their captain Imad Wasim, as they posted a mammoth total of 215 runs for the loss of five wickets.

However, Azam Khan continued his stellar form with the bat, as he steered Islamabad United to a convincing six-wicket victory through his dazzling unbeaten knock of 72 runs.

Speaking at the post-match conference, Islamabad United skipper Shadab Khan shed light on their thumping win over the Kings.

He revealed that although they lost the toss, it actually went in their favour as they had intended to bowl first on the typical wicket of Rawalpindi.

"We wanted to bowl even though we lost the toss. Pindi's typical wicket. quite challenging to contain on this wicket. Our changing area was never chaotic."

The all-rounder was all praise for Azam Khan, stating that the wicket-keeper batter is a real threat to spinners, even during net sessions. He further added that Islamabad United focus on playing smart cricket with a 'daring' attitude.

"Azam poses a threat to spinners. He generally hits me against the net. He announced that he will end the game during the timeout. We wanted to play fearless. The failures will be accepted. I might give it my all for 90 or 100. So we must play shrewd cricket with a daring attitude."

The United's convincing win over the Kings has lifted them to the third spot in the PSL points table.

They will be now gearing up to face Quetta Gladiators in their next match, which is scheduled to take place on March 5 at Rawalpindi Stadium.
