Indian ace off-break bowler Ravichandran Ashwin has surpassed England's James Anderson, in the latest ICC Rankings, to become the number one ranked Test bowler.

In last week's ranking, Ashwin and Anderson gained big in ranking points after they broke Australian captain Pat Cummins' ever-lasting streak of 1466 days of being the No.1 Test bowler.

In the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023 against Australia, the veteran off-spinner 14 wickets in the first two Tests played at Nagpur and Delhi, and he is yet to scalp a wicket at his favourite hunting-ground Indore.

With India already playing a Test match and another one being around the corner, there would be no stopping for the offie to glue himself to the throne.

Ashwin's partner-in-crime, Ravindra Jadeja - who is the leading wicket-scalper in the BGT - has also seen some promotion in the ranking system as he has moved one position north to No. 8. He has also regained his number 1 spot among Test all-rounders.

Interestingly, Jasprit Bumrah and Shaheen Afridi - who haven't played Test Cricket for some while now - have moved one slot up in the ranking. Whereas, Ollie Robinson has dropped two positions down.

As far as the batter's Test ranking is concerned, Joe Root has gone two spots north to become the Number 3rd Test batter. Meanwhile, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith are still holding their first and second place, respectively.

Kane Williamson, who played one of his greatest Test innings at Wellington, has also been a big mover to reach 6th place.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have dropped down in the latest rankings.
