You Can’t Applaud Ben Stokes’s Boldness And Then.... Nasser Hussain Hits Back at Bazball Critics

England's Test revival under new coach Brendon McCullum and skipper Ben Stokes has been nothing short of remarkable. Since taking over in June 2022, England under the duo have won 10 out of their last 12 Tests, which includes a series win in Pakistan as well.

However, after being handed only their second loss on Tuesday by New Zealand, fans and the public, in general, have raised questions about England's approach in the Test of enforcing the follow-on.

Former England captain Nasser Hussain has now hit back at such pseudo-fans for their remarks after such an excellent Wellington Test.

Writing in his column for the Daily Mail, Hussain said that one cannot be double-minded, firstly laud Stokes for his aggressive declaration one day and then pull him down on another day after a loss.

Here's what Hussain wrote

"But you can’t have it both ways. You can’t applaud Stokes’s boldness on the one hand — as many were after he called his team in at 435 for eight on the second morning — then complain after they have lost by a whisker. If England score two more runs, Stokes is a genius. This is just the way it is now, and 10 wins out of 12 tells you it is working."

England's next international Test assignment will be the one-off match against Ireland, before the all-important The Ashes 2023 in June.
