We Are World Champions: Moeen Ali Unfazed By England's Recent ODI Slump

Moeen Ali was unfazed when talked about England's patchy form in the ODI format. He stated that England have played their recent ODIs without key players and the World champions shouldn't be judged on the basis of a series or two.

Since 2019, England have won only four out of their 11 ODI series, and will be eager to get their mojo back when they collide against a resurgent Bangladesh side. The home side recently defeated India 2-1 in the ODIs, and will start as the heavy favourites when the two teams meet for the first ODI on March 1.

Moeen Ali added that in recent times, England have focused more on T2OIs, and Tests, and the ODI format has taken a back seat.

What Moeen said?

“Bangladesh in their own conditions are very good and we know the threat they pose. We have lost seven in the last 10 but we are also champions of the world and done well before that," Moeen said.

“We’ve done it all around the world. It’s a different challenge (being in Bangladesh) and probably a different threat but the mindset is always the same. We’re confident we’ve got the players to play well here, for sure.

We actually haven’t really had our best team for a long time. But Woody’s here and Jofra’s here and we’ve got new guys like Will Jacks in the side as well," he added.

England lost the ODI series against Australia following the conclusion of the T20 World Cup last year, and were drubbed by South Africa in the ODI series which culminated earlier this month.

However, the return of Mark Wood and Jofra Archer is a blessing for the Jos Buttler-led team, and they'll be eager to prove their worth once again when the series starts.
