Regarded as one of the most fearsome fast bowlers of his time, Shoaib Akhtar has recently been pretty vocal about Pakistan's leadership group.

Akhtar, who has time and again expressed his desire to coach Pakistan Men's team, has now suggested a potential captaincy replacement for the in-charge Babar Azam

While speaking on a local TV channel, the 47-year-old reckoned that Shadab Khan could emerge as a front-runner to replace Babar Azam as Pakistan's captain in limited-overs cricket.

Regarded as the Rawalpindi Express, the ace pacer hailed Shadab for his remarkable development as a cricketer and good communication skills.

Here's what Akhtar stated

"Shadab is a very smart kid when it comes to cricket skills. He wants to improve, which is an excellent thing. He is ready to accept his mistakes and rectify them. In the past two years, he has worked hard on his bowling, and his fitness has also improved. He is also very vigilant when it comes to managing his career. He wants to look good and speaks well. In times to come, he is not a bad option for captaincy for Pakistan in white-ball cricket."

Akhtar has been a stern critic of Azam's captaincy attributes in recent times, seeking improvements from him in on-field tactics as well as off-field social skills.

Meanwhile, Shadab has been more impressive than Babar as a captain in the ongoing Pakistan Super League.

While Shadab-led Islamabad United occupy the second spot in the points table, Babar-led Peshawar Zalmi languish in fifth place, incurring three losses in five outings.
