Ravindra Jadeja made an emphatic return to international cricket in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, after missing five months due to an injury. Jadeja, 34, is India's most vital cog in their Test dominance, snaring 259 wickets and amassing 2,619 runs in 62 Tests.

However, for a few years, the all-rounder did not find a place in the playing XI, and only after 2019, has became a permanent feature in both home and away conditions.

Former India coach Ravi Shastri has now opened up about his and bowling coach Bharat Arun's conversation with Jadeja, which focused around his batting.

In the ongoing BGT, Jadeja has slammed 96 runs, which includes a match-changing 70 at Nagpur. Speaking to the Hindustan Times, Shastri further praised Jadeja's performances over the past few years.

Here's what Shastri revealed

"I remember not too many conversations, but it was at Lord's in the 2019 tour. He didn't play that game. It was a conversation that happened. We had a chat, Bharat Arun was there, the bowling coach as well. We said, you have got everything in you, just focus on that batting of yours.

"Work a little harder in that area in the nets because you have got the game, you have the talent and it's weird telling you that you have got that talent. It is for you to realise that you have got that talent. You believe that you have got the talent."

Ranked No.1 in the ICC Test Rankings for All-Rounders, the former CSK captain will look to continue his rich form in the third Test at Holkar Stadium commencing March 1.
