An unfortunate elbow injury in the Delhi Test ruled David Warner out of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023.

Warner was already having a tough time in the series, scoring just 26 runs in two Tests, which has once again raised questions over the opener's place in the Australian Test team.

Former Australia skipper Mark Taylor, ahead of The Ashes 2023, has quizzed Warner's place in the XI given his poor form.

Warner, 36, scored a much-needed double-century against South Africa in the Sydney Test in January after a three-year lean patch, shutting down his critics.

However, his rut came back to haunt him in BGT. Speaking to Nine's Wide World of Sports, Taylor urged the Australian management to start thinking about the future.

Here's what Taylor said

"Dave has come out and said he wants to be around until 2024, so he wants to go to England later this year, he wants to play in Australia next summer. So he has really thrown the ball over to  George Bailey, Tony Dodemaide, Pat Cummins, the selectors to say 'OK what do you want to do? Is it time to start thinking about the future? Normally you take a very settled side to England, with maybe one batter you think is going to be your future, and that's the side you pick."

Warner will return to India for the three-match One-Day International series, which begins on March 17, before leading Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League 2023.
