IND vs AUS: Ravichandran Ashwin Evaluates Australia's Approach in BGT 2023

The visiting Australian side, under Pat Cummins' leadership, came to India with an Australian charisma and spirit to bamboozle the hosts with their tools and preparations. That didn't happen as they are trailing 2-nil behind already in the series with two more Test matches to go.

Ravichandran Ashwin, who has been the chief demolisher from the Indian side, reviewed what has gone wrong for the visitors, who have tumbled out inside three days twice in the series.

While talking on his Youtube channel, the premier off-spinner mentioned two key reasons why the Australians have failed miserably in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2023).

"Two things have changed. One is the mentality of the cricketers. They want to play fast-paced these days. They want to score runs quickly," Ashwin said on his Youtube channel.

"Cricketers these days don’t want to take time and then score runs. But just because of that, we should not compare both approaches and judge who is better. Secondly, both of these games shouldn’t have ended in 3 days," he added.

In both Test matches thus far, Australia have batted considerably well in their first innings; however, they have failed to adapt well in the second innings. In Nagpur, they got bowled out for a mediocre 91 runs and were demolished for 113 in Delhi.

The visitors' biggest weakness on this tour has been their adamant nature to play sweeps and reverse sweeps, which on the low-bounced surfaces on Day 3 or beyond won't be the clearest of choices.

The next BGT Test will begin on the coming Wednesday (February 1) when both sides will be at loggerhead in Indore. In the third game, Australia will be led by Steve Smith.

Ashwin has bagged 14 wickets in four innings thus far in the BGT 2023, whereas Ravindra Jadeja is leading the charts of wicket-takers with 17 wickets after two Test matches.
