In a humdinger, South Africa emerged victorious by six runs, walking to the final of the ongoing Women's T20 World to face Australia.

Ecclestone runs a steamroller despite Brits and Wolvaardt's fifties

After opting to bat first, South Africa's Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits gave England a run for their money as both the openers recorded half-centuries to turn the game in their corner.

While Wolvaardt was dismissed by Sophie Ecclestone after forming a 96-run partnership with Brits, it did not stop the hosts from pressing home their advantage as a quick-fire 46-run stand for the second wicket put South Africa on top.

Although the Proteas would have ideally liked more runs off their last two overs, they scored enough to cross the 160-run mark, setting a formidable total of 164/4 in a high-pressure semi-final match.

Khaka, Ismail tears down England

The chase that went along nicely for the better part of the innings for England had them making a mockery of it as Ayabonga Khaka's three-wicket 18th over blew away the visiting team.

While Danielle Wyatt and Sophia Dunkley recorded a fifty-plus stand at a rapid pace, Shabnim Ismail struck twice in the sixth over as the game hung in balance.

Nat Sciver-Brunt's 34-ball 40 kept England on the front, however, her dismissal triggered a collapse as South Africa left no stone unturned to win the match.

England needed 13 runs off the last six deliveries. Heather Knight was still at the crease but with her wicket walked England's chances as they finished seven runs shy of the target.
