RCB has an amalgamation of world-class cricketers. The names of Sophie Devine, Ellyse Perry, Heather Knight, Megan Schutt and Dane van Niekerk are pretty big in the international arena. Even the Indian names in Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh are quite big in themselves. So on paper, the squad does look very strong. Besides they also have a good aggregation of youngsters. But I feel the x-factor for RCB in this inaugural edition of the tournament will be the experienced campaigner from Australia- Ellyse Perry.

Player Profile: Ellyse Perry

Ellyse Perry is an all-rounder from Australia. She has the ability to bat in the top as well as the middle order for her team. Perry is also a very good exponent of the new ball and can deliver the goods with her medium-pace bowling. She can also bowl an over or two in the death phase if and when needed.

What does Ellyse Perry add to the RCB team?

In her career, Perry has played 138 T20I matches and has scored 1528 runs in them at a strike rate of 112.10. If we talk about her bowling, Perry has picked up 122 wickets in these 138 matches while conceding runs at an economy of 5.85.

But in recent times, the Aussie all-rounder has re-invented her batting style. In the last seven T20I innings, Perry has scored 275 runs at a strike rate of 157.14. This strike rate of Perry in recent times is 40 more than her career strike rate.

On the batting-friendly wickets of India, Perry's batting will be a real bonus for the team.

Threat with Perry

Ellyse Perry has been struggling with a back injury. Since the time she has made a comeback after the recovery from the injury, Perry has not been bowling the full quota of overs.

The WPL will demand a lot from the players as they will have to play consecutive matches and travel on a daily basis. The heavy schedule of the tournament might take a toll on Perry. RCB will have to be very careful about how they handle her and also her load management.
