The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has summoned some of India's white-ball specialists to participate in a rigorous fitness and skill camp at the National Cricket Academy in preparation for the upcoming three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Australia.

While most of the Test squad members, who are also part of the 50-overs squad, have been granted a respite before the start of the third Test in Indore from March 1, the remaining cricketers shall be attending a training regimen in Bengaluru, which shall entail going through their customary fitness routines.

An anonymous source within the BCCI told PTI that fast bowler Umran Malik and senior leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal are already in Bengaluru, engaging in quality net sessions prior to the ODI leg which is scheduled to start from March 17 in Mumbai. Both the aforementioned players shall not only concentrate on their fitness programs but also concentrate on enhancing their bowling skills under the watchful eyes of NCA coaches.

Vice-captain Hardik Pandya, who was occupied with familial obligations, is also expected to join the camp alongside Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur, both of whom form a crucial part of the ODI setup.

The camp shall serve as an ideal platform for the trio to polish their skills and improve their physical fitness in preparation for the imminent series against Australia.

Meanwhile, skipper Rohit Sharma won't be available for the first ODI due to familial commitments, which has resulted in Hardik Pandya being appointed as the interim skipper.

Jaydev Unadkat, who has made his way into the squad, last played an ODI for India on November 21, 2013, against the West Indies. Unfortunately, Jasprit Bumrah, who is recovering from a back injury, has been ruled out of this series.

In conclusion, the training camp serves as an integral part of India's preparations for the forthcoming ODI series against Australia. It will provide them with the necessary guidance and support to prepare themselves for the challenge ahead. With the series just around the corner, the Indian team will be hoping to put in a solid performance against Australia and emerge victorious.
