Sunrisers Hyderabad name Aiden Markram the captain for IPL 2023

In a significant development, Sunrisers Hyderabad have announced South African batter Aiden Markram their captain for the upcoming season of Indian Premier League. The franchise made the announcement on its official Twitter handle.
The stylish batter grabbed a million eyeballs for the first time by leading South African under-19 team in the 2014 World Cup.
Soon, he made his international debut on the back of some stupendous domestic performances and has been a vital cog of the Proteas team across format since then.
Talking about his IPL credentials, the top-order batter represented Punjab Kings with modest success in the 2021 season, managing 146 runs at an average of 29.20.
However, he had a breakthrough season last year for the orange army, amassing 381 runs at a superb average of 47.63 and a magnificent strike rate of 139.05.
When SRH released Kane Williamson from their squad and bought Mayank Agarwal ahead of the IPL 2023 mini auction, it was speculated that they would name either Markram or Agarwal their skipper for the showpiece event.
However, as it seems, as the Proteas batter recently led Sunrisers Eastern Cape to the title in the inaugural SA20 season, the franchise trusted him for the skipper’s role in the IPL.
