The Mumbai Indians franchise has appointed former England international Lydia Greenway as their fielding coach for the upcoming Women's Premier League.

The England batter joins her former skipper Charlotte Edwards on the support staff, who has been named the head coach.

The star-studded staff also consists of former Indian great Jhulan Goswami, who is the mentor and bowling coach of the side. In addition, former India all-rounder Devieka Palshikaar will don the batting coach role.

The 37-year-old represented England in 14 Tests, 126 ODIs, and 85 T20Is before retiring in 2016 after a 13-year-long career.

The Kent-born has a reputation for being one of the best fielders in women's cricket.

Greenway was a member of the support staff for the Barmy Army Team in the 2022 edition of the FairBreak Invitation.

Interestingly, she pulled out of a coaching stint with The Hundred Women's side Oval Invincibles as well.

The MI franchise left no stone unturned in the WPL auction last month, where they shelled out all their money to pick up players like Harmanpreet Kaur, Amelia Kerr, Chloe Tryon, Heather Graham, Issy Wong, Natalie Sciver, Pooja Vastrakar, and Hayley Matthews.

They will meet the Gujarat Titans in the opening match of the inaugural WPL season on March 4 at the DY Patil Stadium.
