In a major development, Australian spin bowling all-rounder Ashton Agar is set to fly back home to represent Western Australia in the ongoing Sheffield Shield and Marsh Cup.

Cricket Australia has confirmed that Agar is physically fit and will come back to India to participate in the ODI series set to begin on March 17.

Agar, while playing for the Perth Scorchers in the recently concluded Big Bash League, received a Test recall and played in the final game of the home series against South Africa in Sydney.

Although he didn't get any breakthroughs, his nagging accuracy prompted the experts to deem him a sure starter in the first Test against India in Nagpur.

However, surprising everyone, Australia handed Todd Murphy his debut Test cap in Nagpur and even fielded Queensland spinner Matthew Kuhnemann in the second Test in Delhi despite having Agar in the wings.

So, as it seems, Australian think tank has probably realised that they don't really need the 29-year-old for the remainder of the series, and therefore, has allowed him to play for his state side to remain game-ready for the ODIs.

Meanwhile, leg spinner Mitchell Swepson, who flew back home before the Delhi Test, will return and rejoin the team before the third Test in Indore, slated to begin on March 1.
