In a remarkable turn of events, swashbuckling South African batter Tristan Stubbs has been roped in by Durham for the T20 Blast 2023.

In his reaction, Stubbs expressed his excitement at joining the iconic club and seemed hopeful of experiencing a great English summer this year.

Here's what Stubbs stated

"I'm really excited to join Durham for the T20 Blast this summer. I have spent some time with Brydon during the winter and he's only had good things to say about the club. I can't wait to get over to Durham and meet up with my new teammates. Having played in England last summer I know how much the fans love their cricket so it should be a really fun and successful summer."

Regarded as one of the cleanest strikers of the ball, Stubbs recently played a crucial role for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, helping them become the inaugural SA20 champions. He is also a part of Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.

In 53 T20 appearances, the dynamic batter has amassed 1028 runs, including four half centuries, at a magnificent strike rate of 151.17. Furthermore, his incredible T20I strike rate of 164.76 vividly represents how big an asset he is for any team in the shortest format.

Besides being an able finisher, Stubbs can also roll his arms for a few overs, like he did for Manchester Originals in the Hundred last season.

So, getting a complete package like Stubbs must have boosted the strength of Durham, who will take on Northamptonshire in their first Vitality Blast 2023 encounter on May 26.
