Since Nike's departure, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not got any apparel sponsors, who have their niche in sports clothing. The BCCI and Mobile Premier League (MPL) Sports partnership may have seen a handsome money transfer, but then the Online Gaming company didn't had any expertise in apparel production.

The MPL Sports, who tenure had to end in December 2023, took an exit as the merchandise partner, before the BCCI brought Kewal Kiran Clothing Ltd (KKCL), producers of Killer jeans.

However, as per a report by CricketNext, the Indian board might end the KKCL deal prematurely to sign the German multinational sports clothing brand, Adidas AG as the new apparel sponsor.

It is understood the German brand will come aboard from June this year, inking a five-year deal until March 2028. While, the announcement of this partnership will be made by next month.

The MPL Sports were signed as the Indian teams' apparel partner in November 2020, after Nike-BCCI's INR 370 crore worth deal ended after five years. MPL penned a contract for three years, where they were supposed to pay INR 9 crore per year and an additional of INR 65 lakhs per match.

However, the Online Gaming company decided to go off-board last year, after reporting losses of Rs 1,120 crore in FY22.
