PSL 08: Mohammad Amir ruled out from next fixture due to a groin injury

Just one day after banking their first victory this Pakistan Super League (PSL 8), Karachi Kings have been hit with a massive blow. Imad Wasim & company's core player and premier seamer Mohammad Amir has suffered a groin injury, which would at least rule him out of Karachi's next encounter; if not more.

After losing three games on a trot, the Kings finished on the other side of the pendulum after beating Lahore Qalandars by 67 runs on Sunday. Englishman James Vince, young Akif Javed and captain Wasim were the chief-architects of their team's last win; however, Amir snapped a key wicket of Shai Hope in his spell.

Although Amir was heavily mocked by many cricketing pundits for his abrupt gesture after dismissing Lahore's Hope.

After that, the legendary Shahid Afridi came out against the Karachi pacer and said ‘what do (he) you want?’

"I messaged Amir yesterday. I talked to him respectfully, but I also scolded him. I told Amir, ‘what do you want?’ You have gained so much respect, you faced a blot on your reputation and from there, you made a return. You got a new life, in a way. What are you even trying to do?” Afridi told Samaa TV.

The left-arm seamer, who just bowled two overs in Karachi, left the field after pulling his groin on the first delivery of his third over - which was a wide ball. Later, he didn't return to bowl the rest of his spell.

This is the second injury blow to the Karachi dugout as Mir Hamza, who got his finger injured during Karachi's opening encounter against Peshawar Zalmi. However, the injury returned to be a blessing in disguise as replacement Javed won the Player of the Match for his 4-28 in the last fixture.
