West Indies pulled off a remarkable three-run win versus Pakistan in the 16th match of the Women's T20 World Cup 2023.

Dar keeps West Indies in check

After opting to bat first, the West Indies out of an abundance of caution started off steadily with their top-order, including the likes of Hayley Matthews, Rashada Williams and Shemaine Campbelle, being extra watchful.

The Windies top 3 gained starts but the innings could never gather impetus as after their dismissals, it proved to be a too steep task for the other batters to take the run-rate over six, finishing the innings at 116/6.

Except for Aiman Anwer, every bowler contributed to the wickets tally with Nida Dar having the best figures of the day for South Africa, claiming two wickets for 13 runs in her four-over spell.

Bowlers save West Indies the blushes

Three Pakistan batters, namely Bismah Maroof, Nida Dar and Aliya Riaz reached 20s but as the Windies bowlers were spot on with their line and length, it ensured that Pakistan had no escape route.

Matthews, Shamilia Connell, Karishma Ramharack and Afy Fletcher made life tough for Pakistan in the run-chase as the women in green eventually surrendered in the last-ball thriller, losing by three runs.
