BGT 2023 | This one hurts: Pat Cummins rues missed chances

Australian captain Pat Cummins is disappointed with how things panned out in the Delhi Test. For the first two days, Australia had the upper hand, playing an aggressive brand of cricket, and it seemed they had rectified their mistakes made in Nagpur Test.

However, Day 3 turned out to be a game-changing day for Pat Cummins and co. as Australia crumbled in the first session, and let the game slip from their grasp. The visitors gave a 115 run target to the Indian team, which was chased by the home team with 6-wickets in hand.

During the post-match presentation, Cummins stated that they did all the hard-work, but was disappointed with the batting approach of his side.

"I thought 260 was a decent score on the first-day wicket and the guys bounced back well. I think they batted well - one or two partnerships - and it was evenly-matched at the innings break. Disappointing (on Australia's batting approach) - the pressure was right on them, but we will have to review what we could have done differently.

Similar story to Nagpur. Some of it is down to planning and it wasn't easy when Ashwin and Jadeja were bowling. I think both defeats, this one particular when we were ahead of the game. So, this one hurts."

Australia ended Day 2 on a strong note, with Travis Head leading the charge, but the morning of day 3 brought their downfall. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja shared all the 10-wickets between them, as the visitors were bundled out for a mere 113. Jadeja was the star with the ball, picking up 7 for 42 to rattle the Aussies.
