England's Stuart Broad and James Anderson created history on Day 2 of the ongoing Pink-Ball Test against New Zealand at Mount Maunganui, becoming the second bowling pair to take 1,000 wickets combined while playing together.

Australia's Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath are just ahead of them with 1,001 scalps, a record that England's leading swing bowlers can break in this innings itself.

Standing at 999 wickets, Broad picked up Kiwis' nightwatchman Neil Wagner's wicket to breach the 1000th mark; this tally comes from 133 appearances together, while McGrath and Warne took just 104 matches.

Interestingly, this is the first time that the duo are playing together after being unceremoniously dropped from England's Caribbean tour last year.

Anderson has already claimed the wickets of Kane Williamson and Henry Nicholls on the opening day of the first Test.

As of writing, New Zealand are 178 for 6, with Michael Bracewell and Tom Blundell fighting it out in the middle. They still trail England's first innings total by a whopping 147-run margin.
