Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan opened up on the captaincy role and stated he is more focused on winning the third HBL PSL title for his franchise in the ongoing Pakistan Super League.

During an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, the star all-rounder explained how he embraces leadership responsibilities and prioritises ensuring a relaxed and comfortable environment for his teammates.

Here's what Shadab said:

"I don’t have individual goals. Since I am the captain, I always want my team to win the game, regardless of whether I perform or not. I am more focused when I am the captain because when you lead the side, you think more about the entire team than yourself. I enjoy captaincy and try to keep myself and the players."

Shadab added that a significant number of his local and foreign players are currently in top form, which he believes will prove to be an advantage for their team in the ongoing marquee event.

"All our players are ready since they have been playing in leagues around the world, so they have match practice and are in good form, so it is a positive sign. Hopefully, we will try our best to be the champions for the third time."

On being asked about the three promising young players from his team whom he considers to have the potential to represent the Pakistan cricket team, here's what Shadab replied:

"We have exciting emerging players like Hassan Nawaz, Zeeshan Zameer, and Mubasir Khan, who can be stars of Pakistan in the future."

Islamabad United are set to play their opening match in the tournament against Karachi Kings on Thursday, February 16 at National Stadium, Karachi.
