Australian opener David Warner's lacklustre performance in the first Test against the Indian bowling unit has resulted in calls for his exclusion from the side for the upcoming second Test in Delhi.

Warner's struggles against the Indian spinners were quite apparent as he recorded meagre scores of 1 and 10 in the two innings.

Nevertheless, Australian captain Pat Cummins has indicated his intention to include Warner in the second Test, demonstrating his faith in the struggling opener.

In the pre-match conference ahead of the second Test, the Australia pacer suggested a way for Warner to overcome his difficulties against the Indian spinners.

Cummins opined that Warner's strengths lay in his ability to take on the opposition. Several former players have also expressed similar sentiments, urging the southpaw to counter-attack the opposition bowling attack, given his defence had proven to be penetrable against both spin and pace.

"Warner, when he tries to apply pressure to opposition he is the best," said the Aussie skipper.

When questioned about the pitch conditions in the Delhi stadium, the 29-year-old stated that although the surface appeared different, he anticipated it to play similarly to the Nagpur pitch.

But, overall, it remains to be seen whether Warner will be able to rise to the occasion and make a significant impact for the Australian team in the second Test.

Cummins was also asked about Travis Head's inclusion in the side, to which the Aussie skipper stated that Head is always in the conversation and is working hard on his game.

Meanwhile, as the second Test between India and Australia looms on the horizon, Rohit Sharma's team will aim to pick up from where they left off in Nagpur and clinch the series by defeating the visitors.

But, on the other hand, the Australian side will seek to stage a significant turnaround and elevate their performance to level the series.
