In the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup 2023, India's superstar all-rounder Deepti Sharma scripted history by scalping 100 wickets in the T20I format. With this feat, she has also become the highest wicket-taker for Women in Blue in the shortest format.

In India's second match of the ICC event, against the West Indies, Sharma bagged three crucial blows in her spell, restricting the batting to 118 for 6.

The off-spinner's first wicket was of a good-looking Stafanie Taylor with her stump-to-stump bowling. After that, she snapped Shemaine Campbelle, with which she surpassed Poonam Yadav (98) to top the tally. She then dismissed Afy Fletcher on a golden duck in the last over of her spell, ending the day with 3 for 15 in four overs.

After 89 T20I outings, Sharma has bagged 100 wickets at an average of 19.07, with her economy being 6.09. She has also scored 914 runs at healthy rates.

Across the world, the Indian maestro is in the 9th position on the list of the highest wicket-taker in T20Is. In the ongoing tournament, Sharma can surpass England's Anya Shrubsole, who has two more wickets than the offie.

Among both men and women cricketers, Sharma is the table topper, followed by the leg-spinner Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal (91) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (90).

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led team began the World Cup with a nail-biting victory over Pakistan in Cape Town. And, if they chase the target down against the West Indies, they will make the chance firm for the knockouts.
