Really cool for the selectors to pick me: Returning Georgia Wareham on Aussie win

Australia's Georgia Wareham made her selection count as the leg-break bowler scalped 3-wickets against Bangladesh women and helped her side win the game comfortably.

In the 8th match of the Women's T20 World Cup, Bangladesh posted 107 on the board. With the pitch being spin freindly, Australia included Wareham in place of Jess Jonassen and worked her magic with three crucial wickets.

In reply, Australia cruised past the winning line with 8-wickets in hand, courtesy of well-compiled knocks from Alyssa Healy and skipper Meg Lanning.

During the post-match presentation, Wareham was given the Player of the Match award, and she thanked the selectors who backed her and gave a chance to be included in the World Cup squad.

"It's pretty special any time you get to play for your country so to get to do that in a World Cup and take a few wickets is pretty cool. There was a little bit of spin in it but it was also good to bat on.

Hopefully it starts to turn a bit more over the next few games. It's really cool for the selectors to back me in this World Cup coming in not having played heaps of cricket. So it's a really cool experience."

Despite a gritty 57 from Nigar Sultana, Bangladesh women were never really in the hunt and lost wickets at regular intervals. 107 was not enough to stop the Aussies and they achieved the target rather easily.

Australia will play their next World Cup match against Sri Lanka women on February 16.
