Harmanpreet to go against Gardner as BCCI releases schedule for WPL 2023

After successfully holding the Women's Premier League auction in Mumbai, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the schedule for the inaugural season.

With a total of 22 matches, the league is all set to kick off on 4th March at DY Patil Stadium with Harmanpreet Kaur's Mumbai Indians taking on Ashleigh Gardner's Gujarat Giants.

A total of 11 matches will be played at both venues i.e DY Patil and Brabourne with the final slated to be held at the latter one on 26th March.

Apart from that, a total of four double-headers have been scheduled with day games to begin at 3:30 PM IST whereas the night games are set to be played from 7:30 PM IST.

Moreover, 20 matches will be in the group stage with two games in the playoff as the eliminator will see second and third-placed sides to faceoff at DY Patil Stadium on 24th March.

The last game will see UP Warriorz fighting Delhi Capitals to finish the league stage on the 21st of the same month.

Furthermore, the auction yesterday saw Smriti Mandhana (₹ 3.40 Cr), Nat Sciver-Brunt (₹ 3.20 Cr) and Ashleigh Gardner (₹ 3.20 Cr) ending up as the most expensive players of their respective.
