Former Indian wicket-keeper, Saba Karim, has criticized the Australian batting line-up following their defeat in the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar series in Nagpur. Rohit Sharma’s men registered a thumping win by an innings and 132 runs to win the series opener.

In a recent interview with India News, Karim emphasized the significance of trust and patience in one's defence when playing in India. He criticized the Australian batsmen for their lack of patience and application, which he believes cost them the match.

"I have already spoken at length about how you need to trust your defence in India and show the application and patience. But their batters showed neither and that's perhaps where they lost the game,” said Karim.

The former selector was also critical of the Australian team management's decision to leave out in-form batsman Travis Head. He stated that just because Head had a poor performance the last time he played in the subcontinent, it didn't mean he should have been dropped.

The 55-year-old felt that the Australian team's failure to field the right XI was one of the key reasons for their loss. Furthermore, Karim raised questions about Australia's choice to play two right-arm off-spinners, stating that playing with a lack of variety in the attack would not allow them to exploit the conditions in India.

According to the Indian veteran, making strategic decisions, including team selection, is crucial in order to succeed in India's challenging conditions. His criticism of the Australian batting line-up and team management serves as a reminder that success in the subcontinent requires more than just raw talent and skill.
