India's left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat has been released ahead of the second Test against Australia, which is scheduled to be held in Delhi from 17th February. The news was confirmed by the BCCI, who mentioned that,

"The All-India Senior Selection Committee in consultation with the Indian team management, has decided to release Jaydev Unadkat from India’s squad for the 2nd Test of the Mastercard Australia tour of India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy,"

Additionally, he has been freed from the squad so that he can participate in the Ranji Trophy final, which his domestic side Saurashtra will play against Bengal from 16th February.

Saurashtra defeated Karnataka in the semi-finals by four wickets after they got better off Punjab in the Quarters.

"Jaydev will now join the Saurashtra squad, which qualified for the Mastercard Ranji Trophy final to be played against Bengal from 16th February at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata."

Unadkat has been a core member of the Saurashtra side where he has led them to title previously in 2019-20. Arpit Vasavada has led the side in the senior pro's absence this year who has managed to play in just three games.

The left-armer was called into the Indian side during the Bangladesh Test series in December.

India defeated Australia in the first Test by a margin of an inning and 132 runs in Nagpur, on the back of impressive performances from skipper Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin.
