On Saturday, India demolished Australia to the core, handing them a crushing defeat by an inning and 132 runs in the first Test in Nagpur.

Trailing by a whopping 223-run margin in the first innings, the visiting batters fell flat against India's rampant bowling unit, succumbing to sheer humiliation.

Experienced all-rounder Axar Patel played a crucial role in India's commanding victory. Although he couldn't pick as many wickets as the other two spinners, Patel showcased his extraordinary skills with the bat, helping India reach the 400-run mark through a sensational knock of 84 runs.

After the game concluded, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan lavished praise on Patel's improved batting, reckoning his range of stroke play to be wider than that of the legendary Ravindra Jadeja.

Here's what Pathan stated

"I will say once again that Axar's batting has improved a lot. He has a very wide range. His range is slightly bigger than Ravindra Jadeja's as a batter. He plays straight down the ground, through cover, hits the big shots, brings out the sweep from his arsenal. The good thing was that when he played the fast bowlers, he played with great belief and a very good technique."

After knocking over Australia in the first Test, India will look to gain an unassailable 2-0 lead when they enter the field in the second Test in Delhi on Friday.
